Okies in the BYC The Original

Please stay on thread topic here folks. This thread was not started to find a missing horse. If you want to post about the missing horse, please do so in the appropriate thread. Let's keep it out of this thread. Thank you.

Ok guys, yesterday I made a lengthy post about following rules and being careful about our comments here. I really don't know what more I can do. Within hours of that post we had a board moderator having to step in and delete a post and give a warning.

As long as it takes to make a post is how long it will take to have us shut down.
I can't be here 24/7 to monitor this board. I don't want to have to monitor it all. But I have agreed to do it.
If my sole role is to be the role of an "Okie" moderator and that becomes my only purpose for being here then I won't be.

I don't like being the bad guy but Al and I have told the moderators that we would monitor ourselves so they wouldn't have to spend extra time watching over us. This was done when the thread was closed about a month ago.
So that is what I am doing.

Monty
p.s. Thnak you Sooner for saying something in my absence.

What do you mean "locked up"? Did you mean that they couldn't bend them?

-Stimp-

Yeah, one had a leg locked with its foot about its head. The other had a leg locked straight out outward. I've been trying to work the joint, but it hdn't done any good. It just kept swelling and getting bigger each day. I didn't know what to do, so I culled. It's not something I wanted to have to worry about later.

ETA: They weren't like that to begin with. It just kept progressing. That is how they were when I got up this morning. Right after hatching, they were walking just fine.

Thanks for the words from your study. That kind of goes with the scripture in my signature.

I love that Billy Currington song! It was my theme song this summer. Lol

I think what the mods are asking is that we don't post anything in anger. Its one thing to be frustrated that our chickens have snarkies (I love that word, by the way), or our incubators aren't working. But when its a legal matter, or something that might cause others to be angry, that's where they are wanting us to stop. And I know I'm guilty, I've done it before! But I'm doing my best not to. Lol

I'm the wrong guy to ask. I cull pretty hard from day 1. If they aren't up to par, I cull them right away because even if it corrects itself, I still don't want them breeding. Like SMF said, it's not something I want to have to deal with later.

I have sucker on my forehead or a daughter that begs to save it momma!

She will have a hard lesson when we start letting her "show" chickens breed & hatch.

She still wants to keep one Roo out of every hatch!

I don't plan on keeping these chicks. I'll probably sell them in the Spring as layers and send the extra roos to the freezer. But I'm the type of person that won't sell a fauly item. I need to get rid of my ferrets, but I won't even advertise them right now because one is on antibiotics. Its just the way I am. I don't want to purchase something that has a problem, so I won't so it to someone else.

That's always the best policy. The other day, P&B said that she'd bought a mule at a sale only to find that he'd been doped up for the sale and after the effects wore off, he was unmanageable. She had to turn around and sell him the same week.

I have two cats in my house that I don't want, but refuse to get rid of. One has been shot twice and has a .22 bullet lodged in his elbow. He walks with a limp. The other was born deformed. His back legs are crooked. They are the sweetest things, but I can't trust someone else to care for them as well as I do. I have raised both of them since newborns. They are the 2 black and white cats on my BYC page. They are father and son. The mother was a half-sibling to the father and that is why the baby is deformed.

Sooner, I am fine. Had to have a colonoscopy. My dr. wanted me to have one, only because I'm 54 and your suppose to have it done at 50. I got away with it for four years. Everything came out fine, no pun intended.
