That's true. I've told Joey about my naps in the woods too. I've explained all of what you just mentioned, to him. He is a low key kid who takes things as they come. He hunted last year with no results and not one negative word out of his mouth. He still had fun. This was just icing on the cake to get one and be that nice of one.

When I was younger I put that kind of pressure on myself. But I grew up with a military father who forgot sometimes I was his son, not one of his men. I have high respect for all military and my father, but my father just happened to be military. Anyway I finally realized all of what you just said and started enjoying hunting again. I passed that on to my son and am doing it now with grandson.

I don't think it is for sale - I never found any references to it, anyway. Now it looks like DBF Jack might try to buy a place nearby, and if the house next door (murder house) ever comes up for sale, I'll do what I can to buy it - so I can have some say in who lives there. I'm tired of cons & ex-cons moving in, tearing the place up and then stealing everything when they finally get the ankle monitoring device taken off. I've mentioned to the owner several times that I'd like to buy it if she ever wants to sell, but she wants to keep it in her family since her son died there...ummm, okay...?? Woops...sorry for the minor rant...

Y'all talking about the good stuff to learn from hunting is great. Last spring when we went out...I shot a blackbuck and a bobcat, youngest son got a blackbuck doe, older boy shot nothing. We had one shot and he missed but we had more fun hunting. We covered alot of ground, stalked and got busted several times, found lots of neat sheds and such. He is a very high strung kid. He likes to do things perfect and is hard on himself. At first he was really dejected and I was worried and then we found the baby oryx...all was good...he realized that not even Poppy saw that and how much he had gotten to do and see...it was a good moment!

The place we are going is a high fence place...but we are hunting very particular bucks and that can make it very challenging. We have a house to stay in...central A/C and heat, bathroom, hot water, nice kitchen, big comfy beds...it ain't roughin it! Great for grandpas and grandsons to spend tie together and let dads process meat

if only there were chickens...

there are turkeys...sshhh...the boys don't know they get to try for one of them yet!

when are you coming down for pheasant hunting ?

Man I sure hope to get to come. I was wanting to before Christmas but I am not sure I can do that. Is the second part of the season any good or should I really try to come in the early part?
