I had a great day! Jack and I went to a matinee showing of the Avatar movie - IMAX 3D. We both really enjoyed it. Jack usually doesn't enjoy going to movies; in fact, he said afterward that he had his speech all ready about how I had dragged him to a 3 hour CGI cartoon, but he decided not to make his speech, since he liked the movie. He did say the Ewoks looked a lot different than he remembered...

It just started snowing here.

Monty good to see you my friend!! Sorry to see that you are feeling bad, will pray that you get better!

Update on my bators, I have decided to completely rebuild them, the incident yesterday scared the crud out of me so I am gonna take the safe route than to be sorry!!

Hey Elkhunter - try elevating their feeder and waterer up on a brick or something to help keep out the shavings - they won't scratch in the feed as much and waste it. I keep the water/feed at a level about even with the height of the shortest chicken's back.

If you can find a small dish or something like that to raise the feeder & water off the floor that will help. You can raise it to the heigth of their backs. Glad it is working for you.

Good to see you Monty my friend!! Hope you feel better soon! We missed you!

City, we posted almost the same thing! LOL. Guess I should read the whole page before I quote someone!

Q I can totally understand rebuilding them, you will feel better and it will give you something to do while stuck in the house! How are the kids liking the snow??

city and sooner --thanks, I thought of that but guess I need someone to tell me. haha! I will get it done.

It's just falling - very wet and heavy snow. I just went out to gather the eggs and my hair is sopped. I wish it was light enough to watch it - I think it's really pretty and I hope it snows a LOT - covers up the brown stuff and refreshes the white clean snow.

Monty - don't be sick!

I watch but havent seen any yet. How common is that?

it's somewhat common I guess, just something to watch for. If they get plugged up they will die. Are you going to let any of your hens set this spring/summer?
