TheBarnSwallow]PS: we are trying to come up with a farmstead name for our place: any one else have a name for their place?

WE named our place Rocking Chair Ranch-or RCR. Had a guy from Ok. I found on another page of this forumn that is making me a logo sign! Can't wait to get it.It will have rocking chair and chickens on it!

Boy the cold has hit here. Barely got above freezing down in the twentys tonight with single digit wind chills. And I was just going to start saving eggs!I'm getting itchy auction feet but the next one isn't till the 12th.

1975 is old for me. I wasn't even born then!!! I understand that for some people it feels like yesterday. I finally realized yesterday that a '84 Cadillac is considered a classic now. It doesn't seem like it should be.

Well, y'all have been a bit chatty this afternoon.

I took my bike out and warmed it up/ran it. Too cold for this wuss to ride. J will ride as long as there isn't any ice, so he hasn't been riding the past week and a half... but mine hadn't been started in a month.

One of the 25 pack of pullet chickens from a mypetchicken order has turned out to be a cockeral. I need to get a picture so y'all can see... if I'm right and that's a roo, he'll be free to a good home. As a chicken outlaw, a standard size roo will get me outed in no time flat. It's gonna have to go. I'm already holding my breath about the two bantam roos.

1. Finish my fencing, including mini-paddocks in our back pasture for MiG.
2. Finish the barn.
3. Buy goats for our meat goat program.
4. Buy rabbits for our pasture based meat rabbit program.
5. Buy 100 chickens.
6. Hatch 50 chickens. Okay, maybe 75. Okay, 100.
7. Build facilities for said chickens.
8. Sell and/or butcher all of them because I will be sick of chickens.
9. Learn to fly.
10. Drop dead from exhaustion from trying to complete all these resolutions.

Not necessarily in that order.

How about you?

Hello everyone Happy New year! hey i see everyones talking about incubators. just wanted to share a story with ya..my husband made one out of a big old refrig. out of a rv. he took the parts out of a old metal round incubator my mother had ( dont know how old but old) and put it in the frig. and then put a fan out of a computer in too circulate the air we have used it a couple of years now and it works great. We are using it now iits in a outside building and even in this cold. cold weather its keeping the temp right at a 100. we can put alot of eggs in there to. He drilled holes to put the temp gages in and the cords thru. its really neat Amazes me. He made a smaller one to out of a nother rv frig.

But I am sure it is totally awsome anyway.

As for New Year Resolutions, my only one at this time is to graduate in May. I think I can, I think I can....

My daughter is coming to hang out with me tonight which is going to be a lot of fun. Watch movies, eat and drink all night.

Oh and for those of you who maybe concerned my daughter just turned 22 two weeks ago. Holy cr*p my daughter just turned 22 a couple of weeks ago!!! Man I feel old

Speaking of my daughter coming to visit I need to make sure she has a place to sleep. The spare room has become a dump the last couple of months and I sure need to get it cleaned up some.

Well try to get on again pretty soon..

Oh and I hope all of you have a wonderful new year!!!!

I don't make resolutions. I establish goals. Goals are things we all work towards anyway.

1. Make at least 1 more coop, aim for 2, would be ecstatic if I get 3 made.
2. Drink less coffee and cut out 90% of any soda consumption.
3. Learn to like drinking water.
4. Finish this hatch... once done, I'll give the incubator back to P&B. If I want/need more chicks after that, I'll have to buy them already born.

5. Contemplate upping the # of breeds to 5... I really like those golden neck d'uccles. I've been thinking about them every day. I need to figure out if I can afford a 5th breed since one of the breeds is a heavy eating rock.
6. Spend 5 hours/week less on the computer. I admit to being a internet addict. I spend way too much time on the computer.
