My feeder hogs I do send out to be processed for our home use, because they do a great job of preparing the good cut's I prefer. But when I do my large whole hogs and weanlings for big pig roast I do them myself because it is pretty easy and fun to do. Goats are also easy to do because they are pretty light and easy to cut up.

Big Okie sorry to hear about the water problems, I wish that I could say that it was going to warm up in the next few days but it aint looking good!! The weatherman for our area is calling for a big storm for us on Wednesday!! I am thinking that the percimen seed was right this year!!

That is what happened to us on the first cold snap. A little hole in the well house froze the main line and then the entire system froze up because it was not running. I actually ran new line to at least get the bathroom going and then held my breath as the temps came up and thawed out the rest of the pipes. Luckily there were no leaks but I know the next time I won't be as lucky.

Al my first job was a ranch hand at a local ranch and when it came time to slaughter we done it on the farm regardless of how big of animal it was, we once done a 1500lb heifer and used a tractor to lift and reciporacting saw and some sharp knives I must say that it was a great learning experience but was a very long day!!

See that's just way too much for my poor little Kubota to pick up. I once pulled a 427 Ford engine out of a pick-up with it but I would never try that again either!!

Didn't think about using the sawzall to split the carcass though that would work great. And as far as the cuts of meat I'm not so up on that either, know how to order them but just not how to get them that way.

Q : yes the good ole days, My processor here in town hates to do mine LOL, I never leave her with much left over to sell like the hide and inards. I keep everything almost like the Tails for soup, jowl meat for salt pork, the gut's for fish bait, the hide for making cracklin, whatever else is left she puts in a feed sack for me and I give it to the neighbors dogs including the head which they love.

Less : I know what you mean about how to identify where certain cut's come from on the animal and how to get to them. I too had the same problem until somebody showed me and I asked a ton of questions, Beef is the hardest to do because of so many cuts but they all come from the same basic regions, just the names of cut's are different.

Hey guys!!

It's official!! I am the rythym player in the church band!!! Woo-Hoo!! Played this morning and didn't have a hitch!! I am really stoked!! Haven't been this charged up about anything since we moved out here. The leader said that I fit in the best he has seen!! (*Hennies dances like Snoopy*) I can't believe I'm really in a band again!!!

Faeries, you mentioned something awhile back about being able to take care of black clothes? I have a couple of pairs of black pants (jeans and cords) and a couple of turtlenecks that I would like to keep looking sharp. What do you suggest? Other than washing in cold water?

Teach...hope you are hanging in there... Prayers for your neighbors...What a rough way to spend the holiday season....

Okie...Jeez, dude... sorry about your water issues.

Mike is watching the Giant game and bleeding out the nose...He just yelled that he would fire some guys a$$ and I asked why? He said, "Because he tried!" lol....

Hens are holding up, but sneezing a lot.... I feel they have earned it...since their whole run is mud, mud, mud.....wet, wet, wet.....Yuk, yuk, yuk. Can't wait to see what happens this week with the cold!!!

Q that is some processing!! I think the saw deal would make me barf... seen too many movies!!!
