Morning All!
Hope everyone had a good night.
The Fletcher auction on the 3rd Saturday each month would be great. They could also do an auction on the 5th Saturday on the months that have 5 Saturdays. Yes? Just a thought!

Well we have a meeting and students will be here soon. Hope everyone has a great day!

Oh and by the way, there is no way I a drinking lumpy milk.

Could be a thing to try, they have Madagascar Games but I didn't want to order a lot of them.

How many did you want? I was going to order 4 pullets and a cockerel on the dark brahmas. So that's five... maybe we can find enough people for 20 more. Oh, and I believe their website says that we can have them label breed/sex, which would eliminate confusion when they came in.

We would be interested in splitting an order of dark brahmas with you. Let us know.
Thanks, Doc, Renia and Montana J (Sometimes Known as "Hot Dog" ), The Holloways.

Alright, whoever wants in on the Ideal order...

PM me with what kind, how many, and if you want straight run or X amount of cockerels & X amount of pullets.

I won't be placing an order until I get enough requests for a minimum order of 25. I already have the first 5 (which are for meeeeee

I'm planning to order 50 to 75 chicks from Ideal, but not until late February or early March. They are out of the breeds I'm looking for right now. Besides, these birds will be tractored and so need warmer weather.

If y'all are still looking when I get ready to order, I will be happy to piggy back yours with mine.

Good advice. Now I don't feel so bad about chewing him out. His heart was in the right place, though, and his brain is fully functioning. Good traits to have in a dog, I think.

Yeah, I've heard of that happening. One lady bought a Great Pyr that was fully trained to work with chickens and locked in the barn with her birds, came out the next morning and found it had killed 5. It hadn't bonded with these birds yet and so saw them as either fair game or chew toys.

I got these dogs fully prepared to lose a few birds in their training, which is okay for me since I don't get really attached to most of them like some folks do (although I do have my exceptions). In the long term, these dogs are far more valuable to me and the future of my place than any individual bird, which are all food eventually, anyway. The dogs will protect far more livestock over the long term than they will harm during their clumsy years.

That's the way I look at it, anyway.

My brother has 3 Great Prhenese dogs that lived with his chickens and never touched a feather of any bird. There wasn't a coyote or stray dog that even thought about coming near his barnyard. His went through a large amount of dog food.
