Thanks! I do hope I havent got it from anyone else on our thread... I remember a while ago we were talking about it and I thought how funny Breaking Wind farm was hilarious but didnt have the heart to take that name from the original poster...

Thanks for the help mike working at the show barn,Al what happened to them cornish sat night had a guy in canada wanting some large birds tonight told him to get hooked up with you. I wish i had planed to go to stockton calif the 30 i guess i will try to make crossroads.

Never Give Up, Never Except Defeat!!!!

So that has been my motto through out my life and poultry will be no exception. Just to let you all know I looked on McMurray's site and they have almost all their chicks available on February 1st. They have all the ones I want and that is about 20 chicks, so if anyone one just have to chicks right now and want to jump in let me know, this includes you too Faerie.
Sooner were you the one who mentioned that you never order the amount of chicks you expect to make it to adulthood because so much can and does go wrong. Absolutely right on that one!!!

Trying to look at the silver lining I still have 5 partridge cochin (appears to be 3 pullets and 2 cockerals), 4 white silkies, 4 black silkies, and 5 white cochins in the brooder, so I really am not that bad off.

Still want more chicks so I can have all my babies grown by summer.

Hummm.... Now need to also plan where everyone is going to go. No worries I have one more storage building to put together and may try to get another one soon and then I can call it "The Projects"..

I let the clucks out to free range today and they all ran straight to the sunny "spa" area on the south side of the garage where they like to dust bathe. No grass grows there under the wide eaves of the garage roof, and it is also somewhat protected from the rain and snow, so it's their favorite dirt place. I noticed that the ground was hard even when they scratched it, so I got the hoe out and broke it up a little, then liberally sprinked "kill the mites" powder into the dirt. I thought the chickens would really appreciate the effort I went to, but instead they all decided to avoid the dirt I'd amended and try to pile into one little area next to the compost pile that I didn't treat. Hmmmph...fine!!

That was cool Grace'sDad! I would love to have one of them...shoulder cannon! Got a buddy that has a group come out every year to shoot praire dogs...couple years ago they brought one...apparently it was funny but hard to claim a hit...

My birds sure did appreciate getting a drink today! Everything was empty! My stupid BB red Jap roo died on me...he looked a little down yesterday but nothing serious...I think one of my juvenile roos became a big boy and whacked him...
