PocoPolo...I raise white and splash show girls. I would be more than happy to help you out with eggs. I also teach school and I know how hard it is to get eggs sometimes. Just let me know and I'll help. I don't know where Haskel is from Claremore but we could maybe mail them. Never done it before but I sure have gotten a lot of them in the mail.

But just tell her they are rescheduling! That definitely made it bearable for me! I think about the worse-case-scenario I had thought of was having to skip out on the show.... now all I have to do is wait a bit

Evening Carah, tonight lazy is the only way to be. The birds are all tucked in and all the other critters have been cared for.

Of course the goats are bawling because they are hungry. They will not come out of their shelter while wet stuff is coming out of the sky. And we will not give them feed inside the shelter, shoot they would never come out!! We have, through the years, raised calves to nearly 1000 pounds that have never gotten wet or sick because of it. The goats taught them that water is a bad thing and when hit by a rain drop would haul it to the barn.

sounds like an incredible job and I know that you and Teva have the patience and capability of training one properly. Will you be able to acquire the dog in Oklahoma or will you have to go out of state?

That is too funny that they won't come out to eat!! I guess our kinda do the same thing but they will come out with the snow to cry to be fed then they go back in. My chickens are staying in the coop by choice, in the morning I will have to take out more water but other than that they are doing good.

I'm eating too many cookies!

well...it is still snowing here, so far no electrical problems, guineas spent the day on the porch, then again went up to the tree... looks like i'll be working on the run netting when it all thaws out..

carah, glad you made it home- looks like we'll be homebound awhile, till the melt off, steep road and all

Fed and watered a few hours ago. The snow formed a blanket on top of the ice that is covering the flight pen, so for a pleasant change the guineas and turkeys have decided to go into the flight pen and the shed at the end, rather than roost on top of the flight pen and peacock cage. I am glad that I was able to downsize the guineas last weekend, so there aren't so many in the coop.

The runner ducks have scooped out a place under some bushes, rather than go into an igloo dog house right next to where they are nesting - or into a building where they have stayed before (and been captured from the pen that is attached.) I did see that the either the Saipan hen or the ducks have laid about a dozen eggs in the igloo dog house. I didn't take time to check and see whether they are duck or chicken eggs.

Looks like the birds are a little damp, but doing fine.

There is about 10 inches of snow on an upside down trash can in the yard and it is still snowing. At least the snow gives traction on top of the sleet.

We made it home the second time on the back roads but I don't know if that would of been possible if it were for the 4 wheel drive. The snow has lightened up some. I think I will hang out here and enjoy the rest. I am really tired from last night.
