I remember the Coral Sea. I left Alameda for The Rock in March, 1975. Got to Alameda in Feb of 73.

I guarded nukes in what was called Alpha Area for part of that duty. Used to sit in the tower and watch ships come in and leave. Right next to the landing strip where all the fighter jets took off and landed.

The only ship in port I ever visited was the Enterprise. I was a big Star Trek fan in my youth.

yea, nuclear wessal, was on one just briefly, Nimitz when it was in Alameda had to run a Officer off the frigate i was station on about 87', forgot why went. Walked off my last ship December 98', six months before I retired out.

He joined the Marines, went to VietNam and then got out. Joined the Army Rserves and retired last December.

Most of the guys who were at Alameda when I first got there were just finishing up their duty after leaving Vietnam and the Dale Cantrell I'm thinking of was one of them. And he was from Oklahoma. Ask him if he was ever at Alameda next time you talk.

Morning All, looks Ok outside. First on the agenda is wake up then work on the AL-A-Bator so I can get all those eggs set, then out to the garden for a second till this time with some good ole 1 yr aged chicken Doodie, yes that was a good vintage LOL. I won't have a good dinner today as my new stove hasn't come in yet, decided to go with one of those cool flat ceramic top job's with a few bells & whistles, should be in by Mon or Tues.

Once I hatched about 11 different breeds and then combined the colors on there legs and wrote them down, so your IDing combinations are endless. No red or pink because the chicks tend to chase and peck at the color red. Just a side note LOL I don't paint the toe nails of chickens, That is just a little too wrong for me, a man has to draw the line somewhere hehehehe.

Well sur missed seeing some you last at Blanchard. It was another crazy night. It seemed chicken prices were down in which has been the trend for auctions in the last two weeks. I guess alot of people are running low on cash flow. Goat prices took a big drop this last week everywhere. It does seem rabbit prices jumped some which is a trend for this time of year but look to fall after easter.
Hope everyone can make to the next sale April 10th.

This is the reason we have tried to stray away from the junk and just stick with POULTRY! Grocery auctions are great but great for another night other than poultry nite!

You know what is strange is I have been to several auctions where they sell groceries and was stunned that people were paying about the same price as what I would pay at the store. Of course I have also seen people buy used fencing and t-posts for more then what you can get new for at Lowes or Home Depot.

I have stopped going to a couple of auctions that are pretty close to my house because they have turned out to be junk auctions. It is very disappointing because I really enjoyed these auctions. What I have noticed is that once they start selling a lot of junk people stop bring birds to sell.

And of course birds are why I go to the auctions, I have enough junk.
