Friends have been to one. It's between Choteau and Inola; not far from Chupps. For information, call Jon at 918-803-1042, or Wayne at 918-639-0521.
Good morning okies! I have a problem this morning. I hatched my first goose at about midnight its still not looking real good. It looks weak and is not standing, the umbilicus?(stump attached to belly) is still attached to the egg shell I have been thinking of tying it off with suture and freeing it from its tether, but i'm unsure if I should do anything. Any help would be great I'm really lost here none of the other eggs took so I have 1 goose hatching and must admit I didn't think any would hatch.

I appreciate this post greatly. I was under the impression (the impression I hade made in my noggin) that there would be tons of chicks and birds for sale. I do understand there will be a lot but I need to contact breeders if I am looking for specifics.
I am overwhelmed by the amount of poultry fanciers there are or have "come out of the coop". People usually give me a funny look when I say I have chickens, go figure.

Hey Darci! I agree with you - there are tons of poultry people out there! You are right - there will be lots of birds for sale at the POOPS auctions - the list that Smfamf/Shavon is keeping is a list of birds that will be available at POOPS for you to bid on. If there is something on that list you like, you'll have a chance at them.
At the bottom of Shavon's posted list are birds people are still looking for. If there is something specific you are looking for, you can ask on the board as always - perhaps someone on here has those birds for sale and they may respond via post or with a PM to let you know. Just because I'm curious - are you looking for something specific?

I ran this by Bill and his thoughts are - He wouldn't cut the cord
for a few more hours. But, you could break the shell away from
just a small piece where the cord is attached. Within a few
more hours, the cord should dry enough to cut it with nail
clippers, etc. The chick needs to remain in the incubator
for about 12 more hours. If it makes it, try to introduce
the chick to some warm water with some sugar mixed in
it. Remember, sugar water in a brooder has to be changed
out after about 12 hours as it will sour.....and...LOL...
you can end up with some really wobbly chicks.
First egg pipped in the classroom at 7:45 a.m. First egg hatched during 3rd hour. What a ruckus that caused. You'd think these kids had never seen a baby chick hatch before
The rest of today will be difficult because the incubator hum isn't louder than the hatchling. I think I'll elect one person per class period to monitor progress. That way if anything does happen, we'll hear about it from one person, and nobody has to feel like they will miss an important event. Next week we'll be writing about incubation and hatching. This has turned out to be a really neat project for these kids.

Poco, Poco, Poco...from what I've heard on BYC, their response to that chick hatching was not a whole lot different from the reaction of some of these die-hard hatchers like Sooner and Donna and Al and Monty and Poultryand Bees and MAllen and Teach and TJ's Na-Na and Les & Teva and...(I could go on
). You know you are creating a new generation of hatching addicts, don't you?!
