Yeah that's the reason I haven't been on much today, I have rebooted a couple of times and it didn't help.. I think the site may have more traffic than it can handle, with all the new members
I remember years ago when Ebay went thur growing pains..

Hello fellow okies! I now have 18 chicks and counting! They are so cute!

It has been a long day with my flock!!!! I had to get rid of some bad hens:(
They were pecking my other hens and rooster making them bleed. I also had to doctor alot of them. So I hope this will slove the problem??

Hope everyone's flocks are doing better than mine...

It has four racks and each will hold a little over 100 eggs. I am thinking that I will take at least one out and put in a hatching tray. I will never hatch enough eggs to fill it up. Not in the near future anyway.

Okay so here are the pics of my blue red laced EE and my wellies

Hope I post these right

These are the EE eggs and 1 Welsummer egg. They are usually as big as my fist in size. The wellie egg is smaller, maybe they will get bigger as they lay. These EE eggs are a bit smaller than what I usually get.

Y'all aint gonna believe this ...

I wanted to do an experiment to see if different feeds made a differences in how my hens lay.

I began by separating 24 hens into 2 groups of 12 each. I would vary the feed for one group and feed the other group the same layer pellets every day. I would keep track of the number of eggs from each group to determine how much, if any, difference the feed made in the hens eggs.

The first day, I fed group "A" cooked rice. They cleaned up their bowl but only gave 8 eggs, the same as group "B".

The second day, I fed them cooked instant oatmeal. Again, they cleaned their bowl and this time they gave 9 eggs compared to group "B"s usual 8.

The third day I fed group "A" regular oatmeal with a sprinkling of powdered sugar. This time, they cleaned up their bowl and begged for more. They laid an even dozen eggs while group "B" still laid their usual 8.

Yesterday morning, I fed group "A" some grits in a wooden bowl. They left the grits but ate the bowl and this morning I bit into a boiled egg and got a splinter the size of a 10 penny nail.

Go figure!

POOPS is a meet, greet, and eat for Okies in the BYC and their friends and family. It will be April 25 at the KOA campgrounds just East of OKC. The goal is to put a face with the folks we talk to all the time, maybe trade/sell a few birds/eggs and generally have a good time. It is the same weekend as the Jones and Blanchard auctions, so some folks will leave about 3:00 and go to an auction. Some folks will be coming from several hours away, so will either rent a cabin or bring their tent/RV and spend the night.

The goal is to have fun and talk and eat and talk and eat and have fun.

Is the KOA campgrounds in MWC? At least I think that's where it's at. That would be fun!
