Well I had the pleasure of talking to Michael a long time this evening. Really enjoyed talking chickens.
He has been having some computer problems so he hasn't been able to post.
He is gonna be bringing a bunch of quality birds to POOPS to sell out right and some to donate for the auction.
Donna let me just say, he has something you want. But I am gonna buy them just to make you mad.
Just kidding.
Teach and Wayne, He is gonna have several pigeons too.
I think we are gonna have lots and lots of birds to buy and sell.

I like what's been posted about labeling cages with breeds, ages, prices, etc. Great idea! I think I'll make a master list tomorrow so that I'll know what to make smaller labels for. I need to keep track of what I'm doing with my chickens anyway. I need to figure out what it's really costing to keep all these birds, but I don't know how to calculate the value of sanity, serenity, and empty-nest mothering satisfaction one gets from tending chickens.

Finished some more hen aprons. If I don't get too busy tomorrow I'll take some pictures so that people can see the type of aprons I'm making for POOPS. I use two layers of fabric for the piece that fits over the back of the hen and 1/4" elastic for under the wings. I used one on a little cockerel a few months back when he was getting picked on by bigger cockerels. His feathers came back quickly, so by the time he didn't need the apron for protection he was big enough to stand up for himself. Maybe I should make some out of John Deere fabric or camouflage fabric just in case someone wants to put one on a cockerel.

Good Morning Oklahoma!!!
cool.png

Looks like another beautiful day in central Oklahoma. We had two episodes of about 15 minutes of torrential rain yesterday afternoon - but other than that it was a gorgeous, windy day. Looks like we will have another breezy day today so I hope to be able to walk into the garden without sinking up to the tops of my toes. I want to get my tomato plants and my corn and turnips planted. Yesterday I pulled weeds and dumped 4 wheelbarrow loads into the chicken yard. They seemed to enjoy scratching through them looking for the bugs.

Going to deliver some hatching eggs to a teacher this morning at church, so her kindergarten classes can hatch them. Yeah! I will have some fluffies in a few weeks and they won't be those white broilers that the classes usually hatch and give me.

Praying for Stimp and the doctors and nurses tending to his care.

I am going to plant some flowers before time to leave for church, so will be on here later.

If you got out of bed under your own steam this morning, count your blessings, because we are indeed blessed.

And less than a week to POOPS!

Maribeth could you pass some of that energy this way!! I've done a lot of things before I've left for church but I don't think I've ever planted flowers before. I think that is so cute.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!! The sun is shining. I'm going to have to keep myself in check in church or I'm going to be thinking about the beautiful weather outside and what I could be getting done....LOL

For those of us that are coming Friday night to POOPS the festivities will begin in 5 days....Yeah!!!!!!!

Somehow that sounded better than saying 6 more days. LOL I wasn't rubbing it in...just need this getaway so bad can't stand it.

SO EVERYONE COME READY TO HAVE A GOOD TIME! No complaining, no griping, no not liking something, no Teach stealing all the sales on the bantams, no Monty stealing all the Welsummers, no Carah stealing all the cochins, no Q stealing all the whatever he steals, and AL WITH A GREAT BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE!!!!

ALL WILL BE GOOD....ya know why? Cause this is the day we wait months for and we are to enjoy each other's company....a day to put the daily struggles away and just have fun.

Oh...I'll shut up

Have a Blessed DAy!!!

I made my master list for POOPS and found that I need to transport 83 birds in my Toyota Matrix next Saturday. I'm going to have to stack the cages and have Victoria sit with her feet on one to get them all in. I'll be building a few more travel cages this week, and I've drawn up plans for a portable, collapsible pen so that I can alleviate some of the crowding. Victoria will probably have to hold the pie keepers on her lap. Wouldn't want anyone to miss out on pecan pie.

Hey all!
The POOPS countdown is on! Wheeee!

I have tons of goodies to bring to sell...my totebags for one...and lots of goodies for the raffle and benefit auction...

Everyone must be outside working on building all the pens they will need after getting new birds at POOPS!! Too bad it is so windy...but the sun is out and it is shiney-brite outside!

Well, our hens laid eggs all thru the winter. Now I have 6 broody hens that are hogging the nests and the other hens lay their eggs on the floor inside the henhouse. I am surprised at how many have gone broody on us this year.

Does anyone have any enamelware buckets or pans to bring to swap at POOPS? I just love those things! I just like old stuff anyway, but I love the enamelware stuff because it is handy AND cute! Anything handy and cute in the barn makes even more inviting. I love the barn--just about my favorite place in the world!

Well, I will pop back on in a bit...just wanted to say hey!

Suzi :0)

Lol, I just finished our second coop and run, its an 8x8 building, and a 5x15 run. We have a real nice frizzled bantam cochin rooster we were gonna sell as my wife wants all silkies, but my father in law informed me he wants that rooster, so I am gonna find him half a dozen bantam cochin hens to go with elvis, so we will be starting a third coop and run tomorrow, lol...went from 1 rooster and 4 hens to 5 roosters, and probably 40 hens....and I never had chickens growing up, this is an experience
