They are fairly dark. A nice terracotta color with spots. I don't have any chicks but I might can get some eggs together if they don't stop laying. My flock is slowing down.
I had really wanted to get a lot of chicks on the ground this year but it didn't happen and I doubt I hatch any more until fall. Most of the ones I hatched were roosters. Isn't that always the case.
Same way with my Marans and Campines.

When I was a kid we raised 2 pig since they were babies and they were so mean I looked forward to the day the slaughter guy was going to come to the house and do the deed. My younger sister and I had the blessing of feeding them and we were so scared of them that we would toss the food over (bucket and all) and run...

I don't guess I have ever had one that mean! We even raised a wild pig for a friend & I swear it was like a dog, it would run up & down the fence & come when you called it.

I like to raise them in the fall & winter or winter, spring. I seem to cook more & have more scraps to feed them. I also hate trying to keep a mud hole going for them in the summer. We actually had one get sick in the summer.

Doc, I have two out there that will be around 80 lb plus, but close, for you I would take $80 for the smallest one in there!!! Call me! I do have some others looking at this time and I will not hold if I don't know for sure someone is taking one, sorry but been burned at the last minute too many times, Lynn

I fully understand and do not blame you one bit. I, also, have been burned too many times to hold out on a sale.
