Morning Sooner and all others. Wow sounds like some of you are really getting soaked! We are still waiting on some but its supposed to be on the way. The clouds are moving in so its nice out. I did morning feeding and watering. These heavy breed bantams are like raising broilers! they eat and drink all day long!. I am sorting out some of the roos and taking them to the auction tomorrow. I get to go and stay as long as I like. Brenda and the daughter and tree teens went to Mertle Beach for three days. Be back tomorrow night. Its been nice and quiet here and I am enjoying the bachore time!.
Had two more hens hatch. must have at least 30 babys now plus the twenty that hatched last week, plus the thirty -fourty that are the oldest! Lots of babys and lots of feed!

Hey Mr. Al.Thinking and praying for you and yours. Wish I was closer to help take the load off some of your chores if I could.

Big hugs and prayers for Doc, Peaches and Hotdog!

Hey guys, the interview went great- they are doing a piece on Urban Chickens, and got an ear full and the hens had their new aprons on that coral made- their 'sunday best' and i mentioned poops and byc, so hopefully that will make it in the article too...

we worked like mad to get the place presentable, whew! she got a kick out of all the chickens having names-

question for ya, one of the dogs is losing hair, i assume due to a flea allergy, any suggestions on how to deal with it? can't afford a vet visit for a few weeks...

Doc, You take care over there.
I will miss your wit.
Kronk tells me that there are "many caves there." Hope you find the right one and what you are looking for.
Renee, don't hesitate to holler if you need help. I am sure the group can pitch in and give you a hand.
So how many NN roosters do you need? I have several young blues and one that is Partridge colored.

Monty

Did you use Ivermec on the dog? If you could find a shampoo with lanolin in it those are the best. Until then you could buy a flea dip. Also, just in case, my dog was losing hair like crazy and scratching til he made bald spots. We thought it might be fleas, we found out he is allergic to soy and corn in the dog food. We switched his food and havent had any problems with him since.

Or we can just meet at Blanchard.

Sorry Doc. I should at least wait until you are gone before starting the Naked Neck enabling.

So, MAllen - did you switch feed to a lower protein? My hens have been going through a bit of a laying drought as well, although a couple of them are molting. I'm feeding them 20% - I wonder if I should find a different feed for the summer.

Hi everyone!!! I leave for a few minutes & everyone show up! Are you still here???

Hi Mr. Wayne, glad you have had a good time with the girls gone. Enjoy you auction & buy all the birds you want, tell Brenda I said it was okay!

Howdy Robin, flea allergies are one of the worst allergies dogs can have they will lose hair all over but mostly at the base of the tail on their back. The first step to relief is to get rid of the fleas just one flea bite can cause several weeks of itching. I use Comfortis or Advantage Multi with my pets the problem with this stuff is its expensive it is usually around $12-$20 a dose. You should stay away from flea dips and please don't put ivermectin on your dogs. The problem with flea dips is that the active ingriedient in them is usually permethrin/pyrethrin and we have been using this stuff so long on our pets many of them are now allergic to them, so you use it and they itch more you think its not working and use more they itch more, you get the picture. The best flea shampoo is lemon joy its cheap and very gentle even gentle enough to use on new born kittens. To help with the itching I would give Benadryl at 1mg per pound up to 3 times daily Wal-mart now sells dog benadryl this is not necessary the generic people stuff is just fine, You could also use chlorphenarimine 4mg or brand name Chlor-trimeton small dog get one tab 2 times daily medium and large dogs 2 tabs 2 times daily. Hope this helps.
