Early Afternoon Folks!

Trying to get motivated but the weather is such that I want to go back to bed and nap. Which is an option I am debating with the cats about right now. They vote nap but then again they always vote nap.

Glad some of our MIA Okies have checked in. Glad your back!

That will give me 8 and when we get Piaget's husband next month (yes it is an arranged marriage) we will have 10 total. That is a good number I think. Yes? Well at least for this year.

Well I am going to go get some things done, than maybe a nap.

Everyone try to stay dry!

Looks like my broody hen finally decided to "let" her eggs hatch. After last week's snake in the coop (lost three eggs to that awful monster) and now all the rain, I was worried that we wouldn't see any chicks at all. They were due on Monday, and today is Friday, so either I counted wrong or Momma Hen just didn't like the way things were going and told her babies to stay put. I think I've seen five. I can't get close enough to really count. Momma Hen is on hyper alert, so I'm going to let her alone for a few days. It's too dark and wet outside to try taking pictures anyway, so maybe in a few days I'll have a few to post.

rain rain go away.....
I also need a few turkey to go away... I think all three
left of four born at home are BOYS!!! Yeap and they chase
all my roosters at the same time. Gang of three after one..
So if anyone wants one let me know...
Hope you all are doing well...

Hi Okies~~

I just wanted to hop on and say that I am sick...VERY sick
sickbyc.gif
...I have pneumonia...I haven't felt THIS awful in a long time. I have missed a bunch of posts but I am too tired to go back over them. In fact, I think I need a nap...again. That's all I do, is nap. And sleep. And nap...all I wanna do is hide...

Peeps, have a good, safe and productive weekend! Pet the chickies for me!

You picked the best time to be sick. It's too icky outside to do anything anyway. Here's a little something to help you feel better.

Thanks Coral for my "chicken soup!"

I wish I could be outside and sweatting rather getting all sweatty just sitting on the couch doing nothing...ugh! night sweats too--yuck!

But my body can't choose between being too cold or too hot...

Hope you get better soon. No fun at all to be sick.

I've been smelling an awful smell and seeing a LOT of flies in the feed shed for several days, but didn't want to dig into the packrat nest that covers most of the floor. I was afraid it might be a neighbor's cat that we haven't seen in awhile, but I knew something was dead.

This morning I noticed the black nylon bird netting was over there, then I saw a snake's tail hanging out. I pulled all that stuff out (fortunately it was hooked on the post hole digger), and there were THREE huge dead black snakes and another still barely alive. Since a snake recently tried to eat my favorite adult Showgirl headfirst, suffocating her, and one ate three of four newly-hatched chicks, I decided not to let this one live. I know they were after the packrats and mice, but I feel sure they will be replaced. Don't know if I'll even try to untangle them from the mess--probably not.

I can certainly attest to the success of using bird netting to catch them. I actually bought several packages several years ago to put on the fruit trees, but they've been on the shelf in that shed ever since.

Hope you get to feeling better and don't try to become productive before you have allowed your body time to heal. Tell Vern we are sorry that he has to do all the chores, but you have to put your health back together first.

Okay! Then we have probably met before there and not realized it! I've shown probably 5 times at that Newcastle show, but this fall will be my last time as a Junior.
