Wow how scary that must have been for her....

Right now Jason is literally wetting his pants from laughing... there is a craigslist add on OKC that says Chickens and Genies for sale... so of course he is laughing it up and saying

Yes I would like more chickens.... poof its done... Yes I would like a double decker coop... poof its done... all the while looking at laughing at me... hello need I remind him I am spelled JEANNIE not GENIE... so the rules of wish making dont apply besides I retired the lamp 13 years ago and the outfit 5 years ago... ha ha

JEANNIE

It's time to get out the lamp again! Why retire it when it was working so well?

Ohhhh I thought they did it inside? Oh I don't think I could handle heat AND direct sun...maybe I will just hang out in the barn with the critters today. Swat flies. At least that is useful!

The Jones auction on Thursday nights is mainly inside and if you sit directly in front of a fan it is fairly comfortable. The monthly "everything" auction, where you can buy a vehicle, trailer, and everything you need for your own garage sale, is outside and consists of boxes and tables of stuff circled around the parking lot. It is like a flea market with an auctioneer.

I have been to the Jones auction on Thursday several times and have gotten some decent horse stuff that I needed for basically dirt. I just never got to go to the junk auction before. It definitely seems like I need to go to that one too. I have so many needs for fencing and other stuff that if there are other auctions that are similar I would love to know about those too. I need a hay ring for horses. Moni the draft mare needs one BAD!

Sorry I missed you as well! I made it for a while. Came in around 7:00 and left around 9:30. My husband, daughter and I sat towards the back. Can't sit with the leg down for too long and had run a few too many errands prior to getting there. I will be more prepared next time.

Drew is very interested in going back. We just got a new-to-us used garden tractor and he is thinking about taking his old one to the auction. It needs a little bit of work but still has some life in it for someone. He was also thrilled to see the shotguns....he'd be back just on the premise that there could possibly be a good shotgun by there.

I'd like to get a couple of cuckoo maran hens but would sure like to meet up with someone there that could help me know what to look for. Want to make sure I get good ones. Was very interested in the feather-footed ones that they had last night but we didn't get a number and as it was our first auction, it took me a bit to figure out the whole bidder's choice and x's or 8 thing. I was really confused at first, but then the light came on.

You guys will have to post some pics so I will know who to look for next time.

Hey jess!
Glad you got to go last night...as I thought, it was a late one. One thing that makes that auction more comfortable is to take your own chairs. I can only sit on those old cafeteria-style chairs for so long before my whole body begins to fuss!

Im ready to skip it... We have been cleaning coops and then took another step
and went ahead and painted the new coop, barn white. (thats what I found in the red barn)
Clean yards and fresh shavings and a coat of paint... Love summer... hate my sciatica...

Look for folks wearing T-shirts with roosters on them. Several of us were wearing them last night and I think you walked right by us, at the table in back where we were sitting. Is your knee brace black and your daughter fairly young? The shirts are neon green or light blue or navy blue and say "People of Oklahoma Poultry Swap" around the rooster. Some of would have LOVED to help you bid at the auction. It is much more fun to spend someone else's money.

I would look for OKCarla at the BYC Okie table. She has some excellent stock.

When you guys go auctioning, do you all normally sit together at a table? I need to know what to look for next time. I can't wait!

The pet carriers sold between 11 pm and 1 am. They sold them "choice" on 4 at a time, for the most part.

The black and white laced polish hens went home with Muesky for $2.25 each, as did the white sultans for the same price. As I recall, there was also a pair of white crested black polish that brought more $$$

At the Blanchard auction a group of us sit at a table in back. At the Fletcher auction, we tend to be less congregated, but there are still some of us wearing the shirts with roosters. Look for t-shirts with a big rooster profile on the front. Not everyone wears them, but you know for sure that someone who IS wearing one is a participant in this thread on BYC
