Carah, have you tried force feeding the chick? When I have one that traumatized, it often takes a few sessions of force feeding to get its appetite up. I'll make kind of a loose paste with a tiny bit of raw honey, warm water, often poultry vitamin/electrolytes, chick starter crumbles. It could actually be more liquid to start with to make it easier on the chick. I have to force the beak open and put a small amount of the thickish paste in its beak, using a toothpick. I do that several times a day, and that usually gets them started. If it is more liquid, of course you have to be careful not to drown it. After a few sessions, usually even the tiniest one will try to eat from the toothpick when it sees it.

That don't sound too good, So if I understood that correctly there isn't much I can do except let it run it's course? I have some antibiotics for them but don't know if I should use it at this point I had several that were weezing and coughing and treated them a while back and they all seem fine except the one that is laying the odd eggs, is this something they will carry and give to other and new chicks later on? Sorry to be picking your brain here When I had chickens in the past I never had issues with something that could infect the whole flock so many new things out there to watch out for it seems

sooo, same kind that got my finches...sure is a long one! so are full grown chickens and ducks at risk with this guy around?? i actually saw him finish swallowing the egg, then when he saw us you could here it crunch inside of him... course i usually feed the duck eggs to the dogs anyway...

cubans cockeral is not running a fever now, so i am hoping we are on the up side now...

Betsy,

I forgot to post pictures of Victoria's paintings. I could only find a picture of one of her landscape paintings. We used a photo of a mountain range in Colorado as inspiration. My painting comes after hers. I also found her "Talking to a Fairy" painting. The red-haired fairy looks liker her mom, and the girl with brown hair has a striking resemblance to Victoria. The other picture is Rafael working on his Lego Indiana Jones painting. I didn't get to take a picture of the finished painting since he took his canvas home to finish there.

So I loaded up eight of my Buckeye boys this morning and sent them on their way. The run sure looks empty now.

But I'll be getting a shipment of Buckeye chicks this fall from another breeder as soon as the weather cools down, so it won't be this way for long.

Lack of sleep and getting up early this morning combined to make me feel like poo...tried to nap a little, but woke up when DS climbed up on the bed and drove his cars on my head. So instead of working on my homework today like a good little college student, I worked on my BYC page instead.

I need to find some coop plans for small structures with yards that can be (relatively) easily assembled by a single person. Anybody have any suggestions?

Good Evening everyone~

I am finally back home. Montana and I enjoyed our visit to the S.E. State. He was not ready to come home. He wanted to stay with Granny...

Came home to find my little German Shepherd puppy missing. POOF! Gone! Oh Well.

I look at my house in the same mess I left it in and said Oh Well, I will do it tomorrow. I have been on the road since 12:30pm today and I am tired.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and was able to stay cool.

Peaches

Betsy, thank you for the information! I had planned to force feed tonight & the little thing had drank alot & ate some when I got home today! I was happy that I didn't have to force feed it. I think it is even getting use to us now! It will be a slow process getting it out of the house again with this heat!
