I have buckeyes that I bought from Jen Scott out of Arkansas. She's the closest breeder that I know of. Mine won't be laying until late winter or spring. I am getting a shipment of chicks from BuckeyeDave in October and will probably have some extras if you are interested in babies. Here's his website: http://www.buckeyechickens.com/?page_id=68

Al
, if you're around somewhere reading this, this is where the chicks are coming from that I was telling you about. Sorry to take so long, I've felt like a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs lately. It's been hard to concentrate on anything for longer than about 5 seconds at a time.

I bot a nice Buckeye roo at the last Fletcher sale . The folk's next door realy like him, an hope to get more...

That was actually one of my Buckeye boys. I was the woman you probably saw chasing the littlest blond haired boy around, trying to keep him out of the cages, off of the auctioneer's booth, away from all the girls, and out of trouble.

You have found a wonderful group of folks who either live in Oklahoma or wish they lived in Oklahoma.

I love feather footed chickens. I have a mix of bantam cochins, mystery feather footed bantams, a giant black cochin, and a mystery chicken my son brought home. I need to build another coop to put the giant black cochin rooster(I think), the mystery hen, and hopefully some more giant black cochin hens. I haven't gotten the hens yet. I injured my knee and had to put the coop on the back burner till it heals. I can't wait to get started.

Nope not sick. Just wasnt sleeping when I should have been and wanted to sleep when I cant... Lol... I just pulled a night shift I guess.

Then I have a cricket in my bathroom somewhere that has hollered since it got dark last night.

I did. I walk in the bathroom and he shuts up. As soon as I walk away, he starts his hollering again.

Doc said if he comes home and our bathroom is remodeled then he know that the cricket paved the way.

I love Doc!! He is so smart!!! I hope the cricket decides to move to a safer place before night fall.

I guess I shouldn't of said anything about my cochins, I have lost one a day for the last two days. Tonight I will loose a Opossum!!! I was so mad to see another one on the ground with the head gone! The pen was closed so it must be a young one coming in somewhere.

Baby chick update: well baby girl and her little buddy (for company) made it through the night...she seems to be a little better this morning...doesn't appear to be struggling as bad to breath and seems for alert and moving faster. She is still doing the wierd breathing thing but not near like yesterday and lastnight. I am thinking of naming her lucky! Again thank you everyone who offered me and lucky your knowledge and help! I honestly don't think she would have made it this far without you guys! Yall are the BEST!!!

I sat vigil with her last night sleeping off and on at my kitchen table...I awoke off and on and this morning I heard little peeps from her for the first time in over a day...instead of screaming she sounded better..less stressed and was back to communicating with her little friend. I think she still has a long way to go but we made it this far!

As for me I have a huge crick in my neck from the kitchen table but I wanted to be able to be with her if she needed me. If lucky makes it (please I hope she does) she will probably be the most spoiled in the flock due to all this. I will continue with the penicilian orally one drop for the next 6 days cause it is the only thing I have. No clue where to get chicken meds. Atwoods?? maybe

Thanks again everyone I am truly indebted

I just hate it when that happens, and sometimes it get's me to scratching my head as to how they get to them despite our efforts to make our coop's into fort Knox.

Goodness! That's awful! Do you have a live trap you can use to catch the 'possum? That's what we've used successfully...... of course you don't have to pay much attention to the "live" part....
Was is your Black or White cochins?

Every morning I've been telling my Old English Game Bantam hens that I'm going to take their eggs because nothing will hatch--no roo for months. This morning, there were two newly-hatched chicks in with them--what a surprise! OEBGs must mature much, much faster than Silkies. Their two young sons haven't even gotten all their color, nor do they yet have their sickle feathers. Pretty nice surprise, though.
