Here's a link to a really good site that identifies Oklahoma snakes with pictures and identification info:

http://www.oksnakes.org/

I think about half of them must live on our property, along with all the weird bugs and lizards. I don't mind the "safe" ones, as long as they stay out of the house and coops, but the poisonous ones that I see don't get a pass.

Good Morning Sooner, MJ and whoever else may be Lurking!

Beautiful weather we are having. I hope it sticks around a while.

Busy! Busy! Busy!

I stay on Face book alot, due to thats the way Doc and I
are communicating right now.

Who all is going to Blanchard this weekend? I am thinking about going myself.

Yeah, I've got a lamp in there on a timer. I'll change out the fluorescent bulb for a warmer incandescent when it starts getting colder.

I'm not sure how I feel about being the head roo just yet. With DH on his way overseas, I've had to take over his responsibilities (such as remembering to get the trash to the road before the truck comes to get it) and our boy tries as hard to help as a 2yo can, so I suppose a certain amount of "manning up" is required. As long as the chickens know who's the boss, we might be able to make it after all.

One evening I pulled up to my aunts house my cousin came running out yelling go get mom shes got the gun there's a snake in the house when I got in there she had a 12ga stuck under a gas water heater. I got her stoped just in time. When you going to bring some of those golden quial to the auction?

Morning everyone

The rain left everything sloppy wet and will make for an interesting clean up today....

Aleisha was a big girl today as she came into the house this morning to let me know that the east side neighbors dogs were out chasing our animals again and so she took it upon herself to go let the owners know that the next time we will shoot them chasing any of our livestock... the owner lady said that her dogs are only playing with our animals and doesnt want her dogs shot... Well then keep them contained... I dont think chasing a momma and her twin goats clear over to our south side neighbors property is considered playing if they are running scared and having to run under barbed wire fencing... some folks can be pretty ignorant

Anyhow I feel like we have done our job of letting them get that warning... next time there wont be one... Any of you guys have problems with owners who seem to think thats its no big deal? Most folks have been fine after we have warned them but we still get a few who are pretty dumb to livestock laws...

The kids spotted a rabbit missing its head is it possible that a raccoon would do this too? I didnt think they ate rabbits... it was a pretty nasty sight finding the thing between our round bales.... I guess Poor Little Rabbit Foo Foo went and got his own head bopped on...

Peaches & Doc and Kwartel - I watched The Colbert Report last night on TV and the audience was entirely military - with live feeds to Irag and Afghanistan. I thought of you all - hope things are going well for everyone.

Barnswallow - Sorry about your obtuse, idiot neighbors. Maybe you could go out and "play with your guns" the next time.

Good morning all. Yup its still morning. I seriously thought about going back to bed this morning. Like a good girl, I decided to get up, get a shower, and come to the office. I'm not supposed to be here until this afternoon, but there have been a lot of things that I have been slacking on. . . . and here I am on BYC instead of working. Oh well. My hubby just presented me with a large cup and said be careful when you open the lid. Turns out that there were 2 more tarantulas in the cup. . . so does anyone want an itty bitty spider?

I wouldnt really say they are idiotic just not educated yet on real country living... I have a feeling that these "city slickers" that are moving down here to all these new homes being built will be put to a big surprize to find that us country folk dont take to kindly to those who feel we should have a Kumbaha(spelling?) attitude and that their dogs are only playing with the goats... ... I was raised to be respect ful and considerate and kindly warn them the first time... After that no more... I even have signs I have made that I will post along the property with such a warning too... although my elderly cattle neighbor says I dont have too I still wanna make it loud and clear that WARNING: Any animal caught chasing livestock will be shot... Things are changing here in Elgin big time... they started building a "gated community" on the west side of Elgin...

I didnt move out here to be citified I had I would have stayed on Fort Sill and bought a house in Lawton...
