Okies in the BYC The Original

It may be that the neighbors don't understand how dangerous it is for livestock to be stressed - they can very quickly become exhausted and fatigued to the point of death. Perhaps if your neighbor knew this wasn't "play" for the livestock, but a matter of life and death they would keep their animals up. When I was a kid I had a young mustang pony that liked to chase cattle, and my grandad didn't stand for it. Thankfully he took my pony to the sale barn instead of shooting it, but it sure made a memorable point to me.

Good Morning everyone...

Grace and I just spent the last three hours catching, hauling birds to the county fair.

I am glad the fairground is only a few miles away because it took two pickup loads to get the birds up there. Yesterday it took two trips to get all the art, baking, crafts, photography and canning stuff up.

She has everything entered and we are eager to see how everything turns out.

Today will be one of the longest days for her. She started about 7:30 catching birds and now is working at the fair making sure everyone else gets their birds entered properly. At 5:30pm this evening the poultry barn closes for entries and the judging will start. They will probably be there until 2 or 3am so it will be a looooong day.

Sounds like with all the stuff Grace is entering, she should start her own Fair! I know she'll do well. It does sound like she'll be busy with her own items as well as everyone else's. Good luck to her - I hope she finds it as fulfilling as I think she will.

I can only imagine the boom that would have made. It would probably have taken care of the snake as well as turning that part of the house into a sunroom, minus the windows, LOL. The only time I would use a gun in the house would be if there was someone in there that shouldn't ought to be, and 9mm or .45 holes are a lot easier to patch.

I have to go play Army this weekend and next weekend I'll be down in TX to see Bil before he leaves. After that I'll probably try to make one of the auctions. Those quail should be old enough to have their full color by then and I'll be able to pick who's going to be part of my breeding stock. I'll probably sell off some Goldens, Whites and Tibetans. They're growing into some fine-looking little birds.

I will.

Marsha and I are going back at 3:00pm today and the main buildings will be open so we will find out how Grace did in the 4-H and Open area for everything but the birds

There wasn't a skirt, so I couldn't lift it and check.

They don't seem to want to answer when I ask either.

Anyways, Momma Mallard decided overnight to abandon the last 10 eggs. They were ice cold this morning and will be disposed of. I still can't get an exact count on the baby buggers. They run around in circles and momma attacks anytime that I get anywhere near the cage. She is being a good mom though. She is hissing like crazy at any visitors. So far all of the babies are doing well. She didn't lose any last night. I thought that she might, but I was pleasantly surprised when I checked on them this morning.

I googled it the last time and it sent me north of Blanchard between there and Newcastle but it was the wrong area,

Follow highways 9,-62,- or 277 to the southwest part of Blanchard look for the rodeo grounds on the south side of the highway and the road that runs besides it will be South County Line Road go south there for just a bit and you can't miss it on the east side of the road it's at 2500 South County Line Road.
Google had me and another BYC'er looking in the wrong place for a while
