Happy B-Day Girls! Oh Lynn spots are my favorite hogs! My first ones were spots,I raised them from babys and thru several litters of their own. I really enjoyed them and plan on haveing hogs again when I get back to my farm. Please keep us posted on them with pics! Never tire seeing piggies.
Had agreat time at the Amish sale today. Hey Teach the high dollar guniea pig days are over! I brought home 15! Yeah thats what my wife said too!"Fifteen! thats fourteen more than we need!"lol Also got three pairs of Mondaine pigeons. They are some of the big type birds. I really like them. Will post pics later. Of course being an Amish sale there was lots of food ! I broughjt home some homemade sorghum, homegrown apples.
Hey, Donnie - I made it back in spite of the storm. I'm glad we didn't get any more hail. I wish truckers would slow down when it rains. With the construction (should be constriction) on I-40 it's already treacherous, so adding water only makes it worse.
Did you see me chase after that brown hen I got in the auction? After I'd checked out I managed to let one of the hens loose while I was still inside the building. She headed straight for the window, up the side yard, and into the cow pasture (surrounded by 4 strands of barbed wire). They guy who helped you with the birds today helped chase her for a while, but he needed to go back inside to help other folks check out, so I stalked her with a net by myself for about 15 minutes. She managed to find a hiding place in the overgrown patch behind the auction house, and I must have walked past her 10 times before I spotted her. A camera-toting woman (possibly someone on vacation???) who was watching the junk auction that comes after the poultry auction asked me what I was doing. She squealed with laughter when I told her I was trying to catch a hen I'd bought in the auction, and then she called for her husband to come watch. Sheesh! Maybe I should have made a jug of Cool-Aid and stirred it with my hand.
Joe - sorry you couldn't make it. Maybe I'll see you there next time.

no i guess i missed that part , as soon as the birds were finished selling i headed back to work , since i only have a little less than two hours left for work lol .. glad you caught her tho and glad to see you made it home safe , i was hoping to of been able to leave work alot earlier so i could have come home and grabbed some of these roos i had i need to sale , i have 10 8 month old RIR roos , and 1 lf silver pheonix roo that is about 5 months old now , i dont have any hens for him , but in a way im kinda glad i didnt because there was only one rooster buyer there today and so they didnt bring as much as they normally do , my uncle is one of the other rooster buyers so when he is there they usually bring way more than they did today
I'm thinking those of us living east of I-75 need to come up with a truckpool or vanpool or carpool or SUVpool or something so we can get down to Blanchard without blowing all our bird money on gas. Think about it and let me know if you come up with a plan. I feel like we miss out on a lot of good conversation, nachos, and bird-buying opportunities.

i know i personally would love to go to blachard auction , im going to go see grace and pick up some birds before too long , and she said durant has a big auction
Durant does have a pretty good chicken auction but lately they have been bringing a lot less. If you are buying, it works better. Don't plan on the actual chicken part of the auction before about 9 pm. It starts at 6 pm but it takes that long to get through with the outside junk, eggs & guns.
