It took me a while to catch up on posts for the past few days. I'm glad to see so many people online. Work has kept me from reading and posting.
We're visiting with parents (last night and today), so I don't have students. I'm happy to have met so many parents this early in the year.
We hit 30 in Haskell last night. Chicks in the brooder gave me the stink eye when I gave them food this morning. My first batch of Chanteclers is fully feathered but still in the barn. They sleep spread out, as if they're too warm, but they don't have a heat lamp. I think I'll move them to the juvi pen outside tomorrow. It's going to be neat to have a group of birds who actually like cold weather.
We've had lots of ducks on our pond in the past few days. My students tell me hunting season starts this weekend. Does that sound right? We haven't heard frogs since the ducks arrived, and I'm wondering if they've all been eaten.
Robin Thats a giant possum. Do you think he died of old age? I work with a lady who says shes got a blind possum (old, old, old possum) bumping around her place at night. He doesnt bother anybody, so theyve let him be.
