Eh
yeah, I'd say 12 at once is kind of bad if it's a line you're familiar with. If not, easy enough to do if they're all the same including sex. Much easier when there are opposite sex siblings for the comparison.

I just didn't think those pics you'd posted were sufficient for anyone to be so sure, no matter how long they've raised them. My current "cockerel" turned pullet.

Hmm maybe 3 mnths in the pics. I swear s/he had pointy saddle feathers and a comb red as all get out at the time.

Looks like you do have some, but I still wouldn't commit off those pics.

Approx 6mnths old from yet another breeder/line. Can you spot the cockerel?

I ain't judging nothing! I tick enough folks off. The judge was looking at names during placing...I think firstplace gets like $3 so it isn't a big deal..costs more to drive over there to drop them off. I am gonna get a buddy to come do it hopefully next year...he is a real judge.

there is so suggesting I do anything else...my wife will hurt you

Okladoodle-wish i was closer..really wanted to go but wasn't in the cards again...I had the judge guy arguing with me that my Modenas were kings...it was foolish...ofcourse the guy that entered the sussexas brahmas might have been the best...

We have our normal games going...malays, shamo, American, and such...also have some d'uccles and of course the barnyard assortment...got some extra pigeons to get rid of...some roosters...rabbits are ticking me off so a couple of them are going...to be replaced of course...always need guinea pigs...Gotta recatch some stuff so the boys and I will spend some quality time together...

Tough one there I would say 3 is the cockerel But with not much hackles hard to tell Pic 2 has very nice posture but doesnt appear to have that High ift or is perhaps being shy. I would guess 2 is a pullet. actually lets make 2 the cockerel very nice straight backand posture. I completely understand your point however. But I dont think raising these birds and feeding them and investing money into them is gonna make any of these roo's turn into pullets so to speak. be backwith resultsfrom string test

LOL I hear ya, but I got the impression they were within a few weeks of being 100% sure and ready for the pot. How much can 10 birds eat in 4 wks?

I think your cull plan sounds reasonable. We actively show, so we like to grow ours out longer.

The last 3 were actually 2 pullets, no roo.

Ok using the old ancient method ofthe pendelum. It appears that not only was I accurate in my assumption out of 12 birds there were 4 pullets rest were Roo's apon closer inspection of these birds. there cackle feathers were definatly defined and there is huge amount of difference in there comb and body development. The roosters are definatly More structured and larger then the 4 pullets. So what it boils down to is I spent almost 100 dollars on 4 pullets and 8 roosters. Heck of a deal. I guess thats just part of life you live and learn. There wont be a next time is all I can say. Iam not a family that Just hastons of money to throw away. we dont drive a new sports car. Every month is a struggle. We just live each dayhoping tomorrow will be a better day.Iwilltry to get some of my money back on these birds. And limit my business with only very reputable Sources from thus point on.
My word is all I have in this world and at least I Can say that its the one thing I will never break. And I will always do good business and someday my credentials as a Oklahoma Breeder will ring like bells in the next mans ear. Thanks all for the help here I will Definatly learn from this.and move on.

edited bad spelling.
