Banjojoe, I've read reports from others who have been very happy with those eggs. Hope yours do well.

Must have been my day at Chupps Saturday. I could not believe those OEGBs went for that much each. And he bought both boxes--four birds in all. He must have REALLY wanted those birds or gotten carried away in the bidding! My others did fairly well, too. A couple of people got good buys on the two boxes of youngsters, as some of them will be show quality, and there were quite a few half lavenders for anyone who is working on lavender silkies. It helped that we didn't see any other bantams except two hatchery quality white silkie roos. Scarcity helps prices.

betsy-I think the guy got cared away and you had the only OEGB worth buying at the sale darn i should have brouhgt some of mine LOL . Hope i have a good hach on cjs eggs

The guy I got my pied peacock from was able to catch the India Blue he had and I was able to go pick him up today. Both birds had been living at an exotic animal sanctuary for the past three years before the guy running it put them up for adoption. He offered me some ducks too, but those would just end up being bobcat food.

Of course, the pied had to come check out the new arrival.

They'd been apart two whole days, so they were cruising the pen together and gossiping about me when I went back out to check on them.

Kwartel, the pied peacock is way cool looking - he reminds me of a Dr. Suess character.

A co-worker has a pair of peacocks that he is trying to catch so they can be relocated from some property that has been sold. Does anyone have any suggestions for catching peacocks that have no desire for close contact with people?

Maybe wait till evening when they are roosting and catch them then. The guy I got these from had a huge net and was able to herd them into a garage where he could corner them.

They do look like Dr. Suess characters!

When I went out out to check on them, they stayed at the far end of the pen and watched me, bobbing their heads around and staring like they couldn't believe what they were seeing. Those long necks give them a whole range of extra expressions.

My co-worker's peacocks roost in a hanger style barn. He doesn't think he will be able to get close enough to use a net. I offered him the use of my chicken catcher that can be used to catch a leg. I have had really good luck with it when catching ducks that are in a cage. I haven't managed to catch anything with it that isn't confined to a cage however.

Got the getto version vermiponics system up and going again, this time it looks like it is going to work. Just running water through it for a few days, if it is still running w/o problems in a few days I'll plant it and place the worms, then keep my fingers and toes crossed.

Kassandra,
I am looking forward to the pictures of your vermiponics system. Will you use it to grow plants or for some other purpose? (I am ignorant regarding the concept of combining vermiposting with hydoponics)
