she is a cochin, I have one just like her and she dont have a man either. Mine is very little tho, now my blue cochin who is setting on eggs as we speak she much bigger but still a bantam.

I do have the roos for my girls, actually 4 JG roos to 5 hens, I know a bit over kill but I like the colors of all the roos. 2 RIR roos to 8 hens. 2 EE roos to I am not sure how many EE girls I have. And 0 roos to my 2 cochin girls. hoping to get a roo for them at POOPS.

Since my daughter talked me into getting the three at the farm store, I am alittle messed up on that. I had one plan and had to re-think it, I am getting my other broader ready to see if I can get ut up to temp.......I should of done this last night!!!!

I hear ya on "I should have done it last night". This is the FIRST hatch that I have been ready for. And they were early. I told Hubby yesterday morning chicks are starting to hatch he said I thought you said, I said yea I know but tell the chicks that they are early. So he got busy and rebuilt the brooders. Nothing much to them just had to rewire them and add a few more screws and he got me set right up. I can hold up to 300 chicks up to 2 weeks old now. Usually at 1 week old they are OUTSIDE with lights on them. I have 2 outdoor brooders. The smaller one will hold about 100 chicks for their 2nd and 3rd week of life then they go to the big twin bed brooder until they are 6-8 weeks old and then they will go to the "teenage coop", which is just a fenced off area inside the coop with an A-frame for cover. Well that is the plan anyway. I think I might be running over my self in there somewhere as I hatch every 23-25 days.

Morning okies

Its spittin snow and colder than I like.

luvs what are you going to do with all those chicks, where did you get the welsummer eggs and what color are the marans?

sooner sit on those hands that baby is ok you don't want to make your other chicks get sticky.

I have no clue what I am going to do with all these chicks. Hopefully I can sell some. Plus I am building up my fall flock. The welsummer and marans are Montys eggs. Not sure the colors. they wont start to hatch till Monday.

pepper how are the eggs doing when is the next candling?

luvs do you sell them all at one age a few at a time or lots of straight runs
this is one of my plans just need to get husband into it

best of luck to all that are hatching

Okiehen.... I candled the andalusions and 29 out of 30 are developing.. great! The welsummers, I didn't get them checked. This is the first hatch out of my cab incubator and I have been on pins and needles

Now my plans and what usually happens are 2 totally different things. My plan is to get them to about 4-6 weeks of age then sell them. Want to make sure they are healthy and out of that pasty butt stuff. Plus that way also, i can pretty much tell what breed they are with mine being X breeds.

It is a Phenox incubator. I bought it from a guy that hatched emues. It hadn't been used in about 8 years and I had to do a little tweeking to get it right but seems to be doing a great job. It will hold about 400 eggs so with the 66 in there, it looks a little empty.

testing to see if I can upload pics. These if they show up were suppose to be RIR's.
