Joe I would cut them back, they may cause a problem whith him breeding. I had to trim my hungarian house piogeos feathers back on their feet this morning. They are pretty but they can cause eggs to be flipped out of the nest. My Tangarogs are on eggs! They are pretty rare so that is good. How are your pigeons doing. Be sure to give plenty of roost(perches) up high as thtas what they like. Also put the nest boxes up high.

I bought a bantam roo that had spurs curling around and starting to dig into his leg. I just took a pair of pliers and gently twisted the spur counterclockwise like you would unscrew a hose from a faucet and the exterior hard shell came off, revealing a much shorter spur beneath it. It was a little bloody for a few minutes, but wasn't actively bleeding and the roo was just fine. I tend to do that for all my roosters when their spurs get long, since it doesn't hurt them physically and is so easy to do.

hi ther okla doo you did not scar me of just that break time was over and had to go back to work still dont know what kind of pigon i have with featerd legs but i like the african owls they are diferent and pritty was looking at some online and they are verry exspinsv so i gusse i got luky they say that thay have a hard time feading there young do to the lack of a beak ? have you heard of this ? do i need to keep the comuns for feaders ?

Joe, it really depends on the bird, some of the same breed can ,some can't feed their own.If the beak is at least a quarter inch they should be able to.you will just have to try them and see. You might look on ,feather site, and look under pigeons and see if you can find what breed the feather footed is.some that come to mind are trumpeters,Indian fantails, west of englands.

Hey ya'll! Have enjoyed catching up!

Robin, is that partridge-looking Silkie roo one you got from Betsy? He is beautiful! Betsy - is that the same one you said is a blue from G. Mihalik?

Jeannie - it's terrible when you have to learn about easements & rights of way and adverse possession property laws. Worse when you're living with them. I'm sorry.

Renia - is Doc home?

Monty - excellent work on Post 1. Your ability to understand and follow rudimentary instructions shows promise! (dang it - you're probably not around to see that I'm being mean to you, which takes all the fun out of it!)

Heya Stimpy!

Teach - my dad is turning his laying flock over and wants to sell his current flock this spring. He didn't know how to go about it, so I suggested he ask you and he said he would ask. So you might be hearing from him. Are there any livestock auctions out there that might sell poultry? Liberal? Guymon?

Sooner - good job on the house!

Wayne - love the piggie. Whenever I say something silly to BF Jack like "wanna have a baby?" he always responds with "Look - a baby pig!" It works.

Freeze - congrats on the hatch!

Poco - the Marans I got from you are the only birds not molting at the moment, so they're the only ones that are laying. Thank you!

Cuban. Yo.

I've been playing madd scientist in the kitchen tonight. I made hot cocoa and put a heaping tbsp of chocolate mint ice cream it it

It was really good, especially when topped w/ whipped cream.

What exactly is dubbing? I understand it is for show roosters and some form of cutting the comb, but exactly how is the comb cut? Is it reshaped? like making a dogs ears pointy? or shortening like docking a dogs tail? or something else? I've tried looking it up but just get that it is some form of cutting, but no specifics.
