Morning Okies - DH is back at work today, but I've got one more week of chicken fun time. Looks like I'm going to have to wait one more day for my big Christmas present: a great Pyrenees puppy. We're getting her from a wonderful lady up near Barnsdall. We've pushed our meeting back to Wednesday to accommodate her mom. Moms are the greatest, so I don't mind waiting.
I'm struggling trying to find a name. DH suggested Minerva, thinking that she was the goddess of war. I just looked up the name and found that she is the Roman goddess of music, poetry, wisdom... among other things. Minerva is often shown in artwork holding an owl. Maybe that's a subliminal connection made because of our owl visitor.
I'm leaning towards calling our new pup Vesta. Vesta is the Roman goddess of hearth and home. Vesta is also the name of a distant cousin in Germany. It's easy to say, and I think it's pretty and strong at the same time.
DH also thinks Valkyrie would be a good name. As a livestock guardian, she will decide, like the valkyrie, who shall not pass.
Camilla has also been considered. Camilla is Gonzo's chicken girlfriend. I think she's a white rock, or maybe she's a white leghorn.
If you've got ideas, I've got until Wednesday morning to decide. I'd love to have some help finding the "best" name for our LGD.
