Aren't seramas supposed to be incredibly small when fully mature? (I hesitate to say "fully grown" since that seems like an oxymoron when the adult bird is only about 6 inches tall)
they started that way when imported. However were crossed with Old English bantams, silkies, and many other things to increase the number of birds. The "American" Serama proposed standard no longer calls out such a small weight. based on the American standard the malaysian serama would be a defect and disqualified from show due to size and weight.
This is what having something that started out in very limited numbers and comanding a great market price will do. You just cant get from 100 birds to 5000 birds in a year without doing something different.
