Joe - Haven't been online for a couple days. DH had a weekend thing so I've been rushing around trying to get housework and barnwork done before he gets back. I still want to get a couple Delaware roos from you if you've still got them.

Betsy - I've integrated my adult and juvenile guineas successfully. We had one day of headbutting, but after that the two tribes became a clan. I had to carry the big boss around under my arm a couple of times to let him know that I'm still the alpha guinea. I've never seen such a sour face as the one worn by that guinea when I put him down.

Ducks are making an absolute mud puddle of the barred rock pen. I think I'm going to have to move the ducks back into their own space. The hens are having such a good time together, though, so I may wait until until the middle of the week. If it rains, everything will be wet anyway.

For the folks getting hatchery catalogs, do you get to see more in the catalog than online? Is it worth signing up to get a catalog?

I'm not quite sure what the percentage of blues you'll get, as there are others here that know the genetics charts, but I believe you'll get some blue, some black and some splash and then of course some will be frizzle and some will be regular. That's what makes raising chickens fun and rewarding.

Lots of people that build incubators on here ... Al built a beauty. I go for the store bought ones ... my favorite is the GQF sportsman, but that holds hundreds of eggs ... which if you own one or more of them, then you definitely become a chicken addict and official animal hoarder, because it sure is hard to give up those beautiful chicks and chickens that you raised yourself!

Well I know for sure whet one byc er is! Al is watching the Bears I am sure!lol
Nice here today. I spent the morning out cleaning pens and moved the guinea pigs back to shed. The mice will have to stay I side for a while.Since both are obviously very pregnant ! I guess the male must have been busy before he died.
I found out I have a living mulch maker-Miss Holly the pig shreds her straw and hay into little pieces for herbed. She must lay there and chew all night!
O
I was looking at the three game stags I got yesterday(they are small, not quiet half grown) after looking at pics last night I decided they must be Roundheads because the round heads have white legs. Well I guess not because one has white legs, one yellow legs, one green legs! They are all bb red in color. Two have orange hackles one has red hackles.I guess I can give them each a fancy name and they will all be fancy games!I don't know how the gamers tell them apart or if they just make up names to!lol

Blue X Blue does not give 100% Blues

Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black , 25% Splash

Blue X Splash = 50% Blue , 50% Splash

Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black

Black X Black = 100% Black

Splash X Black = 100% Blue

Splash X Splash = 100% Splash

Only way to hypothetically get 100% Blue, is to breed
Black X Splash.

Hope this helps.
