People Of Oklahoma Poultry Swap...POOPS

We got together at a KOA campsite near Choctaw. Al cooked tons of food. Monty put stuff together...as did several others. There was food coming out of everything. There were chickens and turkeys and ducks an yeah...we talked and ate and messed with birds...I forgot stuff and felt like a fol but it was okay cuz I have gotten used to it. Stimpy entertained folks...TJ's Pa-Pa did stuff to a rooster that is best not talked about in mixed company...learned some stuff about the possibility of hatching quail eggs somewhere that kinda intriqued me but at the same time embarassed me...and that is saying something!

Basically it was fun and we got shirts that have a chicken and says POOPS!!

Sounds like you guys had a great time. You can't beat a nice big group of Okies... You will always find good food and fellowship where ever Okies gather.

I bought some quail eggs off of the Crazy 24 auction thread about three weeks ago. I took them to my uncle and he put them in his sportsman. He called me last night and let me know they are starting to hatch. I was worried about them since I got them in the mail. My uncle said it looks like it will be a good hatch. My quail I bought at Chupps are almost ready to separate to the breeding pens I built. In a few weeks I will have my own eggs to hatch. I bought an LG from Atwood’s the other day. I am going to try my hand at hatching. I am afraid I am well on my way to an addiction. I may need to seek help from a 12 step program or something.

Cubin, I will be culling really hard and rebreeding the pullets, not planning on saving any roos, I was thinking maybe crossing in a white Maylay if I can find one also, know where any are??? Would like to find more Red Shoulder Yokahoma and Cubalay hens both!!!
Luzs, tell your SIL that there are several on here that have Games and would enjoy visiting with him about them. If my hatching works out I should have several breeds going before too long myself, Lynn

I live in Stilwell, OK. It about 90 miles from Tulsa.

I turned 40 in December and my wife is not too far from it. (can't wait for the payback lol). My son will be 21 in July and he has lived in Tulsa for about a year now. My daughter is 13 and will be living at home until she is 40! lol

I have really gotten into the self sufficient living stuff lately. I'm raising the largest garden I have ever raised this year at 70X50 feet.

I have 4 RIR's around 9 weeks old and 15 three week old RIR's and 35 that have been in the incubator for 11 days.

My daughter is now wanting rabbits and have been thinking of getting some meat & milk goats. So yeah wanabefarmer fits me pretty good. lol

Hey Wannabe Always good to see people close to me starting the farming. I am in Westville. I have recently gotten into milking goats and started Raising Rabbits again. Good luck with the farming

White Malay and white Cubalaya are hard to come by. Though, rumor has it that Sandhill Preservation's red pyle cubalaya throw whites. The only issue is that they're on the small side.

There are a couple of breeders up in PA that have Yok's, they also have cubalaya. Here about June - August they'll be selling started birds.

What kinds of rabbits are you raising? I am raising NZW and California crosses for meat rabbits and trying to get started raising Flemish Giants for pets. (and my FG buck crossed with a NZW doe makes a nice meat rabbit)
