Okies in the BYC The Original

Great weekend. It seemed more like a reunion than a meeting. I felt like I had known everyone in the past, I just hadn't seen them in a long time.

All the planning, organizing and hard work paid huge dividends. Monty and Al and the others (you know who you are) deserve a huge round of applause. You made it so easy and pleasant for the rest of us and we want you to know how thankful we are. I agree with Tina. Next time, those guys get to sit down and enjoy the efforts of others.

I'm going to say this about Kendra. I admire her work ethic. She saw a job that needed to be done, and she did it. No arguments, no complaints. She just did it without being told. That is so good to see (and rare) in kids these days and she is to be commended. Kendra, kiddo, my hat is off to you.

I had a wonderful time, and it was a true pleasure putting faces with the names. I'm looking forward to our fall gathering. Maybe we can put on our own little poultry show. Any volunteers to act as judges? Just to be fair, I think that anyone who called anyone an idiot at any earlier gatherings should be disqualified as a judge. Again, you know who you are.

Where are you from and what kinds of poultry do you raise or want to raise? There should be a disclaimer made that the Okies of the BYC assume no responsibility for any chicken addictions, hatching addictions or poultry auction addictions you may acquire in the future, nor any responsibility for providing rehabilitation for any addictiveness you may experience with the Okies in the BYC thread.

Ok teach are you vol to do the cooking. Every time I asked the cook this weekend he kept giving me them eyes. I was at a distance. This one was outstanding and it was what was planned. Next one lets let others that plan it enjoy the company and visit and sell some birds also.

I think putting on a poultry show is a great idea.

Don, thanks for donating and buying the Marans eggs. I hope you get a good hatch. If not let me know and I will make them lay more. iIhave them on retainer.
Sorry I didn't know when you guys left. I wish we could have visited more. I had a lot going on.

P&B,

It was great getting to visit with you. I have to think that you must be a holy terror at home. Nobody can be that pleasant all the time. It was nice meeting your other half too. Tell him Gomer says "hey".

Just kidding, and hey, I'm not talking about getting sloshed! But ever since I moved to Oklahoma, EVERYONE drinks beer! I know there was plenty of beers running around there....

Have to say that I didn't see a single can/bottle of beer, either being consumed or in the trash can..... and I certainly didn't see anyone acting stupid because of what they were consuming. I saw a lot of ice tea and pop and water and food being consumed. If there was beer there, it was well hidden.

Well I guess what people did behind the scenes was up to them..But you are wrong on 1 Point...Not everyone drinks Beer (maybe i AM the only one) But I don't and If I had seen any or knew of any before hand I wouldn't have showed up..It's Ok if that is your bag..But there is a time and a place and the meet up wasn't the place.. and that is all I'm going to say on that matter,,

Stimpy - remember that I live by the motto that "he who angers you, controls you." I have been around long enough to recognize that there are not too many things in life worth getting upset about.

Yes, I have been known to throw a "hissy fit" about something I believe strongly in. My family knows that I don't tolerate meanness or bullying and I can be the proverbial "mama bear" if someone trys to hurt one of my cubs.

I live in Stilwell, OK. It about 90 miles from Tulsa.

I turned 40 in December and my wife is not too far from it. (can't wait for the payback lol). My son will be 21 in July and he has lived in Tulsa for about a year now. My daughter is 13 and will be living at home until she is 40! lol

I have really gotten into the self sufficient living stuff lately. I'm raising the largest garden I have ever raised this year at 70X50 feet.

I have 4 RIR's around 9 weeks old and 15 three week old RIR's and 35 that have been in the incubator for 11 days.

My daughter is now wanting rabbits and have been thinking of getting some meat & milk goats. So yeah wanabefarmer fits me pretty good. lol
