I have to laugh however, our first bantam rooster helped me understand why short, arrogent men are sometimes referred to as "banty roosters."

We don't have any bantam roosters right now. The first and only one I ever paid money for, was a black cochin. As I recall, my son made me promise not to give him to the neighbor, for butchering. He didn't think I would be able to do the buzzard in by myself, so he thought the rooster was safe with that promise. I had never killed a chicken before, but I got the neighbor to show me how and I did the deed myself. I kept my promise - she didn't butcher him - but that irritating bird was GONE and my ankles were safe again.

Someone later gave me a pair of teeny tiny black chickens that I never identified, but I rehomed those to a friend. She thought they were adorable and I was happy to see the rooster half of the pair gone. That was several years ago and I think she is still enjoying the pair. The hen loves to hatch out her eggs and then my friend has babies to play with.

I believe I owned a white bantam hen for a little while. A little girl gave her to my daughter and my LF hens wouldn't leave her alone...pecked the daylights out of that thing. I kept her in a huge dog cage in the coop and let her out to roam the run when I was in there....she died unexpectedly this winter.

Okay, I finally caught up on all of the past post. And i must say one thing about you guys.................You are truely a blessing and i am so glad we met at POOPS. I really enjoy coming here to "listen" to all of the chatter. You guys have made my day more times than I can list. And the way you encourge one another is just awsome.
Henny Thank you, Thank you for sharing with us, you are an amazing person. And you are not crazy for feeling that way. You will share your testimony in due time. And when you do it will be beautiful and well spoken just like you!!

On to shrooms...............the batter was............sssshhhhhhhh it's a secret, fried chicken batter OR pancake batter.
Mix the pancake batter up like you would for pancakes, dip shrooms, deep fry and viola.
OR
wet shrooms and place in plastic bag with fried chicken coating , shake and fry. That's it nothing hard or special.
Eulaine, I am not sure what the store in Choctaw was but it the spicy fried chicken batter in a box for a dollar.

Yikes! I think TJ's Na-Na told us earlier about the storms causing the Dallas Cowboys training center facility to collapse - I just saw video of it on the news...SCARY! It's a wonder more people weren't hurt.

Next on the news were some runaway ponies in Kentucky.
