Finally I've been able to read all the posts since I was on here yesterday, Wow! A lot said!
Gerald and I had a great time at Cement. Al & the gang were great fun, and kept us so entertained I barely bought anything!
We only sold hatching eggs yesterday, and I was very suprised they did quite well. I overheard several people behind us telling others that the eggs from us hatched really well for them ... lots of people were bidding on them. We didn't PO any! One guy said he bought over a hundred of our hatching eggs last month and only 3 didn't hatch! I sort of wonder about that ... we don't have that good of hatch from our eggs, but then again, we usually only throw the eggs in the incubator that are over a week old that haven't been sold yet and we like the breed too much to sell them as eating eggs.
We only bought a few things .... something I really really really wanted, but Al & his money talked me out of! Then I bought a baker's dozen of buff, black tailed Japanese bantam chicks for a whole dollar each & they look like they're a couple of weeks old! We bought a really nice looking turquoise & white big cage for the house chickens, and I guess the best purchase of all was the old rusty crate full of tin cans for only $2!!! Gosh, there must be at least 30 tin cans in there!!!!!
Let me know if anyone wants any of these tin cans ... I may even be generous enough to donate some of them to the next POOPS auction
Tina, do you want any?
OK, so our dear friend Sam, the wonderful man that we see at most of the auctions we attend, saved seats for us and I was blessed to sit next to him at the auction! Tina was able to see first hand his sexing of birds with his car keys. Oh, and Sam bought some hatching eggs that I brought home with me to put in my incubator. They are Black Warhorse. I guess they are gamebirds? Anybody know?
And there were peacock eggs. I bid on the first 3 but realized Jerry, Misty's husband was bidding on them and I stopped. He bought them for $7.50 each. Then I bid on 5 & won the bid but the seller PO'd them. Anyway, Jerry came over and at first asked if I wanted them for the price he paid, and I thought about it & when he said the same guy PO'd those eggs at the Maud auction, I begain thinking they might be too old or shook up by now. Anyway, I said I'd better not. So, Jerry being such a super nice man asked if I wanted to put them in my incubator, and if they hatched for me to give him only one back! Hey that's a deal! You bet!
Well, I'm sure I could just keep rambling on, but I'll stop for a bit here and post this.
We did have a blast last night, thanks to our dear BYC Okies buddies, Tina, Lynn, Al, Misti & Jerry and my favorite non BYC Okie, Sam!
