My coop and run are a *huge* swampy, smelly mess...makes me even more determined to get a floor put in there and get the french drain put in behind the coop.

I say I'm going to plant the garden, but I really haven't been out to the garden yet to see how bad it is...I may end up having to wait until it dries out a little...we'll see.

I just checked my incubator, and have chicks & poults hatching! I have some noisy little creole bantam chicks hatching from eggs I bought at the Blanchard auction 3 weeks ago. I bought 18 eggs and I had to toss quite a few clear eggs, but have 6 extremely loud voiced little buggers bouncing around. I just hope they really are creole. I like that color. You never really know what you're buying at an auction though, unless you know the seller and trust them!

I sure wish the darn turkey poults would have waited til Tuesday which is their 28th day. Anyway, I had hoped the chicks would have been done hatching before I put the turkey eggs down, because I don't have room for all of 'em! I wouldn't have had that many turkey eggs hatching if it hadn't been for a fella calling me & asking me to save all the turkey eggs for him for a week and he'd buy 'em all. So, I took the auctions off ebay, saved 'em all, and then he backed out of the deal saying he was going on a vacation.

Now he's calling & wants to buy turkey poults from us.

I'll have a whole bunch of turkey poults for sale soon! If all hatch, there will be over 50 of them, and I already have 10 that hatched the other day.

OK Lynn, now I know I have a place to donate my tin cans ... just wish you were closer. I think Tina really wants these cans ~ MAYBE NOT?

Luckily, my chicken pens are only a few inches deep of thick mud & water or we'd be having to teach our birds to swim. Most of the pens actually drain pretty well, but a few unfortunately don't. Gosh, I wish I had concrete chicken runs like Al does! He's the Man!

Everything we have here is a huge sloppy mess. I feel your pain. i too was going to finish planting my garden, but it is cool and breezy. Think I'll wait until tomorrow.
The ducks seem to think it is okay weather, but the chickens prefer the coop instead.
Just put the eggs I got from Carla in the incubator yesterday. some from ebay go in today and with any luck another batch from Carla next week. I'm addicted...

Sorry, but unlike the flu, which you eventually get over, the chick buying fever is an addiction that just needs to be fed periodically. Of course, on this thread you are in good company, since most of us are also addicted. If however you are seeking a cure for your addiction, be forewarned - this thread has a lot of enablers on it.

Oh, you poor dear! The hatching bug has bit you and there's possibly no cure! When you get to the point that you have chicks everywhere and not enough places to put them & you start having dreams about them .... well, at least you have some fellow enablers here to empathize with you

I was just trying to figure out how much room I had left in my incubators. I really need to take a break so that I don't have any due to hatch when I'm due. It's just so darn hard. My husband does not get the hatching thing. I'm having to hide the boxes I get in the mail so that he doesn't know just how many eggs I've gotten. lol

DH likes them but alot like your wife, he will help me out when I need something but mostly just likes the babies. He will sit and chat with me while I am watching them. He builds for me and doesn't complain so I can't ask for more. He is more into his horses and all the other chores that go along with having a place. He teamropes so that take alot of time on the weekends.

Sorry I slipped off on you guys, had to see a man about some chickens!! Got me a pair of white tail japs(banty's), they are cute!! Free was the best part! She was setting some eggs that he said would be due to hatch in a couple of days (wasn't sure) so I now have them in a ice chest with warm towles hoping I can get them home into the incubator......it's worth a try. I felt so bad that he took her off her eggs.....but he didn't want them and I didn't realize I would be taking chickens but how could I say no!?
