I just checked my incubator, and have chicks & poults hatching! I have some noisy little creole bantam chicks hatching from eggs I bought at the Blanchard auction 3 weeks ago. I bought 18 eggs and I had to toss quite a few clear eggs, but have 6 extremely loud voiced little buggers bouncing around. I just hope they really are creole. I like that color. You never really know what you're buying at an auction though, unless you know the seller and trust them!
I sure wish the darn turkey poults would have waited til Tuesday which is their 28th day. Anyway, I had hoped the chicks would have been done hatching before I put the turkey eggs down, because I don't have room for all of 'em! I wouldn't have had that many turkey eggs hatching if it hadn't been for a fella calling me & asking me to save all the turkey eggs for him for a week and he'd buy 'em all. So, I took the auctions off
ebay, saved 'em all, and then he backed out of the deal saying he was going on a vacation.
Now he's calling & wants to buy turkey poults from us.
I'll have a whole bunch of turkey poults for sale soon! If all hatch, there will be over 50 of them, and I already have 10 that hatched the other day.
OK Lynn, now I know I have a place to donate my tin cans ... just wish you were closer. I think Tina really wants these cans ~ MAYBE NOT?
Luckily, my chicken pens are only a few inches deep of thick mud & water or we'd be having to teach our birds to swim. Most of the pens actually drain pretty well, but a few unfortunately don't. Gosh, I wish I had concrete chicken runs like Al does! He's the Man!
