On the days I get up at 3am im lucky to have gotten in bed the nite before at 10pm, and they go to bed at 7? What is this? It does look like alot of the okies are gone for the nite though, it is midnite so i guess thats normal. I hear turkens surprising well in cold weather.

It is too bad that we can't bottle "puppy breath." My beloved got me a Great Pyr puppy, after getting me the adult Great Pyr that I wanted. I was going to tell him to take it back, until I smelled the "puppy breath."
I told the breeder that I really didn't want a puppy, until I smelled the "puppy breath." She responded "it is too bad that husbands don't have "puppy breath" because then it would be a lot easier to forgive them for doing dumb things."
(the Great Pyr puppy had to be rehomed when he was about 6 months old because he was having too much fun herding the chickens - not good to have a dog running around with a chicken in its mouth)
No, that is NEVER a good thing.`
Hah, I sorta have that problem right now. I'm hoping he'll stop doing it as much as we've corrected him for it.
She is actually pure white, but due to the red mud it seems she stays stained most of the time. Won't wash out either so when she starts to molt this year she will go into an elevated cage with a wire bottom to keep her looking good.
Sheila, NNs are either a love 'em or hate em' type of birds and years ago when the wife wanted some I fought her tooth and nail over it. She won, and then the breed won me over.
Boy was it a NICE day yesterday, got a tractor built for Mr and Mrs B. Lynn liked it so well we are going to make another one today. Got to let the brooder area dry out and then going to revamp that one again. Lost alot of chicks due to the rain. OMG the smell!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We got all the one left moved around and they will just have to be a little cramped up until we can get the large brooder moved and make it mobile. This one is made out of a twin bunk bed frame (wooden) Kinda heavy but Lynn and I can move it. When we built the coop and chicken area last year it was a great place but now that the chickens have destroyed any vegetation there so my hill is moving in on them. We are going fully mobile now. We have 40 acres to play with so move them once in a while and let things grow back.
Tina, I was wondering where you have been! Now I know, you have been driving poor Lynn! Glad you are getting stuff moved around. Sorry you lost some chicks! Are you still hatching? I know your bator was full at POOPS.
Monty are you singing to us???
So far we have sun shine!! Gosh I hope it stays! I could really use another day of sun not to mention how bad the chickens need it. I am still ice skating in a big part of the pens but it has drained alittle. I am with you on the smell, gee it is bad.
Yup been working outside. It was a bit our fault for the chicks but really had no where else to put them. We will now for sure. I have 2 racks ( about 9 doz) in the incubator, decided not to do the middle rack was thinking that I had it to full and that was shy the middle rack didnt hatch very well. I also put them back into cardboard egg cartons and not hatching on the rack this time. Then I have 2 doz BYS in the brower these are test eggs, one for the brower and 2 of washed eggs.
Wanting to get some eggs from dutch just can not pull it off right now. Maybe next month. I got a doz of mix cochin eggs at Cement auction last week, so hopefully they will be fertile and we get a good hatch of them.
