I talked to the Marie (lady we talk to about the NPIP certification) She said you have to buy the supplies from the department of agriculture but that it was only $17 or 20 per 50 I think is what she said.
Hey since it seems like so many of us from BYC are going to be at this training maybe we should make this a POOPS event.

Teach - reading about your memories with your Papa and Nana - and your fear of a good "talking to" from your Nana - brought tears to my eyes. As a grandparent, we don't always know what our grandchildren will remember about the time they spent with us. I am hoping that Jaxon remembers all the time he and I have spent with the chickens and rabbits. Jaxon and his older brother are going to be moving about 40 minutes away from us this summer and we won't be able to spend as much time with them once they move

There's a neighbor's cat who spends the day with my LF chickens whenever we are not here to shoo him away. He has never hurt a one of them, I don't think he has ever even tried!

Don't tell P&B she might holler at me! Things is just out of control around here! Baseball started!!! My oldest will be a pitcher and ????...just know he has to be there. The little guy will do a little catching and probably 2nd...

Teach - once you call the Dept of Ag, I can change my signature line to get rid of those goofy "yipchicks" Could you do it soon, please?

I have had my cat for almost 9 years and that is alot longer than I have had chickens and she goes with me every day to feed she goes into the run and everything and doesnt bother them, and then when I leave the run she is right behind me!

My last cat would go in an eat the chicken pellets, guess the cat food wasn't good enough! This cat doesn't do that thank goodness, come to think about it I didn't have as many mice when I had that cat either......

Okay - someone on here needs to get a job at Atwoods so you'll be able to tell me what kind of chicks you have when I call in. Going to Sapulpa to see if they have any silkies...pray they don't and that I come home without peeps!

Beth, I just noticed your question!
1. Silkies (any Bantam) can live perfectly normal lives with LF's but it all depends on the birds themselves. I would at least try to keep them together, then if it doesn't work because of fighting/picking, you could seperate them.

2. My Silkie boy is very quiet. So, I would say they are as quiet, or more quiet than most other roosters.

3. The pen I keep my Silkies in is 3' tall with a 6' x 3' run and a 2' x 3' house. It has wheels on it, and I move it to new ground every couple of days.

I found this guy in my nest box yesterday evening when I went to collect eggs. I had a hen setting in the nest down the way. That is a .22 beside it.
