Okies in the BYC The Original

Ok, I have kept tons of poultry, but am semi new to chickens, I have a brown layer, normally she lays good size brown eggs, only today she laid a white egg. I had just collected eggs, and she was alone in the coop so it had to be hers because she got in the box after i had collected and left me the egg when i was around to see that no other bird had entered the coop. Is this normal? could it be diet? crazy? my luck? or whats going on.

Okcarla I still need a tom {red} or any color if you don't have a red.if your coming this way If they are as good as these silkies I got from you. I know they are so I take a hen to if you have one. these silkies are the best I ever purchased from any one I never lost a one we have around 35 silkies I think we have all the colors out their so my wife has a nice little flock of them. The day we pick them up at the sale she had a light stroke I guest she was so excited about getting the silkies so I get to take care of them for her I don't mind she worth it and these silkies are nice to be around.

BuckGuy and Henny, thank you for the concern. But we didn't even know about it! I did hear the firetrucks leave for it though, how crazy! Someone did set our west field on fire last spring though... I will watch the news for it tonight, thanks guys.

By the way... have to share a story. Yesterday my phone rings... on the other end is some lady... she says "you don't know me, but so and so gave me your number. I was wondering if you would be willing to take some ROOSTERS!!!"

Those of you who know me pretty well (AL) know how I feel about ROOSTERS!!! She went on and on about how BEE-UTI-FULLL they were... I was like..."I bet". Then she went on and on about how MEAN they were and how they were pecking her 7 "special" girls to death. Yeah... Like I want a bunch of mean, randy ROOSTERS hassling MY babies. Nasty things. The only good ROO is in a STEW!!
