I never have to be up before 9:00. I had to be at work at 5:30 this morning; the sun isn't even up then!!!

I was exhausted by the time I get off, you early shoppers are crazy! *ha*

Now that I'm married, we have four families to go to each holiday. I've got three down, one to go! I'm making pies for the final one now.

Does anyone else decorate for Christmas? I've got big plans for the outside of the house, but hubby's not as enthusiastic about it as I am.

Hope everyone is well again soon.

Hi Everybody, thanks for all the well wishers for Gerald. He sure isn't feeling any better from the med's the doc gave him, so I guess it'll just take time. I just hope those antibiotics they gave him don't make it worse when he runs out of them.

We picked up our pyrenees male pup today. I was under the impression that his parents were working dogs, with goats and cattle. I was hoping that by letting him stay with his mother a few more weeks would be good for him (he's 3 months old) but I didn't realize he was kept in a chain link dog run along with his mother and 2 siblings and a few other female dogs in a run and then quite a few other dogs in runs next to them, and the owners living down the road. They said they keep them locked up because of hunting season. I know there were at least 20 there, and then they said they raise German shepherds & something else elsewhere. Anyway I was disappointed that the pups wouldn't come toward me when called. The man said "they're not pets, they're working dogs". Well, my dogs can be my outdoor pets and guardians to my property and animals. Needless to say, our new guardian pup is going to need some human socialization and then he gets to learn the ropes of taking care of the acreage along with my other pyrs and shepherds. I just hope he gets the hang of it soon. I want a dog to bond with his people and then the critters & property he's guarding. Poor puppy got an upset tummy on the way home too.

Well mine are still in the same coop with all my other chickens, but my coop is about 15x15 and they all stay on the same roost together and the fight is on if a full size chicken tries to roost with them, so far I have never had any frozen chicken in the mornings when I let them out. Im kind of a believer that since we still have chicken, clearly years ago some of them survived without a heat lamp, well that and my coop doesnt have power so they are on their own.

That is the order that I like too.. They have to be people dogs first..With him being that young he will take up with the rest of the gang and see the kind of Love they are getting and then jump right in for his share..
Good Luck with him

I like my dogs to be quite the opposite as I have found that there are as many two-legged predators as there are four-legged ones. Twice this summer I have had to run people off in the middle of the night that were creeping around and calling the sheriff would do no good, after 4 or on weekends it would take them 2 or more hours to make the 10 mile trip.

Henny,

I have never had heat of any kind in my chicken coops and I've never lost a bird to cold. Lord knows that's the only thing I haven't lost a bird to. I've lost them to every kind of two-legged and four-legged varmint you can think of, but never to cold.

Well, my new puppy, Beaumont, is doing great. He isn't quite sure of his surroundings yet, but is happy to see my other dogs. Yeah, my dogs act like guard dogs to everyone else but family, but with family they can be loveable and like to cuddle. They act like they're going to tear up the mail man and the UPS delivery driver, and bark aggressively at anyone that pulls in our drive or even stares at them from a distance. I just don't want them to hurt children or anyone if they accidently get out of our yard. I'm going to have grandchildren soon ... so they definitely need to be protective and loving to kids. Oh, and my daughter had an ultrasound and they say it's a GIRL! Woohooooo!!!! Now I can start buying frilly baby girly stuff!

I don't think too many people would want to creep around our acreage with 3 Great Pyr's a huge German Shepherd and our meanest dog is the Australian Shepherd mix. Well, if they get past them, then hopefully the shotguns will convince 'em to leave. I doubt if our place would be much of a target where we live anyway. Almost all the houses around us are huge, new and fancy. We are the "white trash" of the neighborhood with the old farm house, Gerald's old army trucks, and our noisy birds & dogs & proud of it all!

We met Chris, aka doubleostud this morning at the Norman Atwoods. Very nice man and I assume that was his father with him .... looks just like him. I hope you like the turkeys Chris! They definitely could use some fattening up. They look to have good coloring though. I was looking at our younger Royal Palm turkeys, and they don't have as good of coloring ... too light of barring. I think we'll sell those at auction. Some people like them that way, but I want distict black barring on my RPs.

I hope everyone's favorite football team wins today! I'm routing for the Tuttle Tigers today ... and OU!

Waiting on the ball game to start and watching the incubator, hatch started yesterday got 1 then today so for 3 more, 2 turkens and 1 JG. Yesterdays was my barnyard special, and what was funny about that egg, is when I was putting in the eggs I got from Carla I had collected the one egg that day and decided what the heck, I put it in there. Freshly laid and it hatched in 20 days. I am HOOKED
