What a coincidence. I had two barred rock roosters to dissappear last summer, after a flogging incident. It's bad enough to flog the hand that feeds you, but when they do it to the kids, it's goodbye.

Wow, sounds like ya'll are getting some winter weather! We haven't got a thing here, just cold wind. We were out in the dark last night loading the calves up to go to sale. Such a relief to have that out of the way!

Carla, all of your dogs are so pretty!! Oh I like the use of the new simlies (hiding from the hatching chicks).

Is Gerald finally feeling better? When I had the flu last spring it took forever for me to recover, and nothing seemed to help. And apparently I'm one of those people that never tests positive for flu, they finally just had to assume. Maybe that's what he had???

We had sleet here today too. I can't say as I like this weather, especially since I think I caught Gerald's virus. Yeah, he's doing much better but still not over it completely. I've now got a scratchy throat & sneezy stuffy head. We stopped at Walmart to stock up on cold med's and a couple of cold preventative med's. I guess I'll try the Airborne preventative and the Zicam to reduce the severity. Now Gerald's making fun of me, since I hassled him for not taking a flu shot. It's not the flu!

I live for Zicam in the winter we had the day time and nighttime liquids as well as the hard candy type drop and the qtip things. My husband gets horrible head colds and these are great for them!!!!

Well I definitely have a virus. Sneezing, congestion, achy, dizzy, etc. I went to work last night and took a box of cold med's & zicam with me, but after 4 hours was completely miserable & Gerald had to take off work & take me home. I don't recall ever having this rough of a head cold. I will do my best to stay away from people to keep from spreading it. I sure wouldn't want babies or elderly to catch this.

None of the over the counter med's could clear my sinuses, so I finally found some old Sudafed in the cabinet. It still works! The expiration date was 2004 though. Hopefully, Gerald will go to Walmart & buy me some more. I have a feeling that I shouldn't go to work today. I know that my coworkers don't want me there possibly giving the virus to them.

We have more chicks hatching today! An entire rack is due to hatch, and the silkies are hatching first. Anybody need chicks? Just $2 each .... a December special! I don't know where to put all these guys.

Carla, it sounds like you have what my hubby had. It was horrible. It wiped him out for 2 weeks and he is tough. It was definately a head thing rather than a lung thing... but it was staunch stuff. He went through all kinds of stuff trying to get his head cleared out.

Well it has been a rough 24 hours for me and the girls. I lost one pullet when it went into my backyard (I still don't know how) and my dog ate it. I lost another pullet overnight due to what I think might have been overmedicating when I wormed them last week (long story...never try to medicate hens alone!) and then this morning I tried out my new ax and culled my first one. It was hairy... but I didn't miss... and got the job done. I didn't barf either... I was always afraid I'd barf. So that's 3 pullets in less tha 24 hours. Jeez. I am going to have to get EEs for sure. Lol. I feel like I am the kiss of death...

Stimp... just saw the new signature. It made me think of my sister. She is very liberal...and was vocally against the war in Iraq. Her son has been wrestling with drug problem and was going to have to go to jail. She called me up and said she was going to take him to the recruiter. I was like... what the hell? She said that she thought it would be better for him to go into the military than to go to jail. I told her first and foremost that they don't take drug addicts anymore. Second they would eat him for lunch... (the kid is real quiet and introverted and weak)... and third where did she think he was going to end up? She said they would have to educate him and all that... I was like no... he's a drop out and he has a record, he is not going to get educated. They are going to teach him to point an M-16 and pull the trigger and ship his a-s to Iraq!! What is the matter with people's thinking?? All of a sudden the military was great! And an honorable thing!! Six months before that they were horrible!! Killers!! Led by a hawk president!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Hi Don, I wish I could remember what all we put in there this time. We didn't write it down. From the incubator window, I can definitely see naked necks, silkies, and cuckoo marans. We had some chicks hatch a week ago too. There were a few buff orpingtons, 2 or 3 egyptian fayoumi, and quite a few silkie and naked neck chicks.

When you asked if we could bring to Shawnee, you mean the poultry show right? I definitely want to go to the show. I should be over this virus by then ... I hope.
