Vickie, and chickflick thanks for the return posts.
Boomers come from the people and towns that sprang up overnight here during the early oil boom.
Sooners are the people that went across the line early in the land run.
I have some friends that are from Michigan but they moved here witht the military.
Hopefully you can get a little of the warm weather up your way.

TJ's Na-Na :

Speaking of my age and IQ - I know what Americanas are
are and wondered if that's what some of you call EEs.....
A few years ago we had one that laid the blue and one that
laid a hot pink. I've got 14 out there now, but only get
the green ones.

Easter Eggers are birds that do not fit the Ameraucana or Aracauna standards, but tend to carry a copy of the blue egg color gene. So... they are mutts that lay colorful eggs.

Yeah, You can cross Ameracaunas or Aracaunas with anything to get Easter Eggers or EE's. Not all of them will have the gene for the colored eggs. If you cross an Ameracauna with a brown egg layer, you will get the olive colored eggs. With a white egg layer they will be blue. Pink is in the eye of the beholder. What some people call pink is just a different shade of tan or cream to me.

So did anybody make it to the Durant auction last night? I wasn't planning on going, but at the last minute a friend called and said he was on his way to get me and we were going to the auction. It was a first for me at this auction. I was really surprised at the number of eggs for sale and the prices were lower than I thought. I got a dozen bantam blue cochins for 2.50 and three dozen Aracauna (EE I sure) for 2.00 a dozen and a bought a few silkie chicks just cause. I will be going back for sure!

Attention Ronnie-The-Tough-Guy-Atkeson

Last night I had to be at my church at 7:45 to tape 3 songs for the local stations televising of church services. I had had a long day with my Mom and was not in the best of moods, but trying to be cheerful and spiritual. Hubby gets home at the usual time and hops in the shower right after me. I am doing my hair, face etc. When hubbies little voice chirps out of the shower, "Can I take Keflex?" I'm like... what the heck? Where did he come up with that? I said probably so...why? then I thought someone at his work gave him Keflex...hmmm... I asked ever so demurely where did you get Keflex? There was this long pause.... and he said, "The doctor." I was processing all this when he said real innocent like, "I cut my leg." My stomach sank. I asked quietly, "On what.?" (*noise of silence and shower running*). I asked a little louder, "ON WHAT?!!" Hubby says very quietly, "Chainsaw?" I went over to where hubby was HIDING behind shower curtain and asked, "Am I going to be ticked off when I see this?" He said...."Yes." So swoosh goes the curtain and boom goes the wife. OMG a huge gash in his leg... sewn up like Frankenstein! I'm like, "ya went to ER and DIDN'T CALL ME? He says...."I didn't want you to be worried... you had to play tonight and I didn't want you getting all upset over it.... and you have so much going on taking care of your Mom... and you have been about ready to stroke out anyways... I didn't want to add to that." By this time I am hollering at him like a banshee... mind you... I have to be videotaped in like an hour... I can't cry or my makeup is shot and my nose will be stuffy and my eyes will be red...but I am HOT. What possesses men to be so dang lame? He sat in ER by himself, dropped off by a co-worker... didn't know his address or what he was allergic to... couldn't remember any departure instructions etc. Ya know, I look at the shape our country is in and I think to myself.... who is babysitting the dang men? No wonder we are so frigged up.

I let him off the hook if he swore on the Bible he would never do it again.... Then I had to get up this morning and cull 4 hens. Life is a disaster.

See Al? I told you that "Michigoons" wasn't correct. Now please stop referring to our neighbors to the north in such a manner.

Oh, I had decided that these were "mutts" after looking
through this Standards book....LOL But, they are super
egg layers and easy keepers. The roos can be pretty
rowdy, but I love the hens.

Hennypennies - I've got one of "those", too. That's one
thing I hope he doesn't teach TJ.

Have a good one !

People Of Oklahoma Poultry Swap April 25th 2009 I-40 and Chactow KOA

camp.

This is just an informal get together of our group here and their family

and frineds. We can bring birds to sell/trade/swap.

Okie Dokie will start the food thread here and will update it here on this

post and also move it to current page each day. Will that work.

Who is bringing what.

Those that are traveling a ways maybe could do paper and plastic ware.

Breads and chips. There will be a Loves right at the exit off I-40 to get

ice and such if needed. There is a WalMart just about 15 miles from this

exit on I40 in Shawnee. There is also a walmart off I-240 and I-40 from

the west in OKC.

Tina, Thanks for the help. Teach, Al and I are working a plan to have a smoker there. IF some folks don't want to bring a dish halfway across the state they can just contribute some cash to the meat fund.
I will be helping with meat and I will for sure bring some other stuff. Maybe a wash tub full of tater salad since I am close by.
