I think you've gotten enough replies to answer any questions you had, but one thing I wanted to add is that I have started another thread where we can all list what birds we want to buy/sell/trade. There is a link to it in my sig.

White Mallards are soooo pretty!
Yeah, if you can send me a picture of the White Cochin Bantams, I can give you my humble opinion

I used to raise those, too.

It is definitely an incredible auction! I didn't get to make it last night, but Sherri (Dandellion007) did

Howdy Okies, I've got some questions for ya if you don't mind.

It looks like I won't be able to afford to build a coop the size and way I want. So now I'm wondering about bantams.

The original line I fed to the Hubs was that we could sell the (large) eggs to help pay for feed for the chickens if we had standards. The truth is that I just want chickens, the eggs are a bonus.

What size eggs do bantams lay and what breeds lay fairly well?

I'll be doing some reading up on my own but figured I'd ask here and help bump up the post count.

Side note: I would LOVE a serama rooster (even though we live in the city it isn't illegal) but Hubs said flat out "No!"

bantams - I just don't understand the fasination with them

I am so full of well... Bantams are great the eggs are little takes a couple to make a big one but they are so much cooler! I would personally recommend about 6 of each!

I have a pair of white rock bantams, she lays light brown eggs, about the size of a quarter or half dollar, normally I just throw them in the bator or give them to friends, not much to eat since they are so small. I have had plenty of other breeds, but she seems to be about the best layer for me.

I am planning on going to Pryor this saturday. IT has been at least 15 years since I last showed at Pryor. Can someone post the directions to the fairgrounds as I have forgot how to get there. I am coming up 82 then over to 20.....anybody know where I go once in Pryor?
Thanks

Grace and I are trying to get Carla down for some of her birds and eggs. If we could get rid of her J-O-B, I think we could get her enticed to come to Durant because of the auction (John Teel's).

Where are you located at Dizzy Chicken?

Oh, you are in Atoka right?

Well, I actually live in Coalgate. We just moved from Atoka where I have lived nearly my whole life so I am an Atokian at heart. I still shop and attend church in Atoka, I just live in Coalgate (nothing else).

When is John Teel's auctions held? I might just mosey on down there and check it out. I am in Durant alot also. It is like my second home aside from Atoka. Love me some Chili's.

Oh and to the other poster that asked about EE that is what we call the mutt breed that lays colored eggs. I sure do love my mutts. I wish they would allow them to be shown, cause I would definitely try to start a good flock of them.

Hi Buck,

Thanks so much, but I can't take the credit for them, as I just purchased them 2 months ago from the farmers market.

I am hoping to get a really good Ameracauna rooster to see what patterns I can develop.

I am just going to break down a buy a incubator because I want to see what I can develop.

Oh and I forgot to add that LuLu is the one laying the deep olive green eggs. I caught her in the act. LOL

I wish I could go to the Poops thing (what does Poops stand for anyway) but won't be able to make it this year. But hope yall have fun fun fun.
