No promises, but if you make it to the POOPS in April, I may have switched out some of my hens with some of my prettier pullets by then and I'll possibly some hens. All my silkies are less than 2 years old, so they'd be good breeders still. I know I've got some silkie hens promised to doubleostud first and the I can't remember ... someone else was asking for some. Was it Grace?

I'm having trouble remembering things lately ... must be that dementia & alzheimer's creeping up on me. It could just be I need more sleep too! Well, gotta go feed the chicks in the brooders and get ready for tomorrow's auction. Good night!

Yes, I have to come up with something for you

If I don't get a really really good price on the EE's at the auction, are you interested in some? They're just a year old and laying really well. I'm almost tempted to build another pen & keep them. But, we need to downsize

That's great your better half will be with you! I hope she isn't turned off by all the smelly ol' people and stinky ol' birds everywhere!

I have a feeling that the auction will be absolutely packed. I hope to get there early enough to ge my birds in somewhere near the middle of them all. I sure better start getting ready now.

GOOD NIGHT !!!!

what have you got against show silkies.....LOL.
I know this won't help you now, but, get in touch with some breeders (yeah those evil show people) tell them you will take all their DQ birds. Show breeders keep only the best and not all birds produce that many good ones. Things like not enough toes, crossed beaks, etc.
Another option is to aquire a silkie cock and a cochin hen. Those silkie/cochin crosses are even better than silkies.

Just a suggestion that really does not help you right now, but something to think about.

People Of Oklahoma Poultry Swap April 25th 2009 I-40 and Chactow KOA camp.

This is just an informal get together of our group here and their family and frineds. We can bring birds to sell/trade/swap.

Okie Dokie will start the food thread here and will update it here on this post and also move it to current page each day. Will that work.

Who is bringing what.

Those that are traveling a ways maybe could do paper and plastic ware. Breads and chips. There will be a Loves right at the exit off I-40 to get ice and such if needed. There is a WalMart just about 15 miles from this exit on I40 in Shawnee. There is also a walmart off I-240 and I-40 from the west in OKC.

Good morning, Out of 53 eggs set in the bator, have 44 on the ground today and one more just starting to pip on day 23. Not bad at all. These are my own homegrown chicks. I can sure tell you who the dominate roosters are in my yard. Yup the Jersey Giants. I have 3 BR and Dom roosters out there and not a one of these chicks are bared in any way.

They were telling me 1.50 a couple weeks ago, guess they had to compensate for the run they will have on free chicks. They told me last week they had no idea so many people would be calling about it..... I was disappointed in the breeds she told me on the phone yesterday so after all that anticipation I didn't go down there.... guess 22 chics in the brooder is enough to satisfy me...

Carla,
Are you taking any EE eggs to the Cement auction or just hens? This weather makes me want to get my incubator up and running (and I have 25 Saipan pullets ordered for the week of April 15, so I will have to get the brooder ready in the next few weeks, anyway)

Are hens selling well at Cement?

What about those Araucanas; how 'pure' are they? Are they tufted (not bearded) and are the rumpless?
Oh Brabanters are very similar to Spitzhaubens aren't they

What kind do you have - Gold, Silver, or Chamois (or I think Cream is the same thing)?
