I don't know what time it was that I woke up, they were stubbling around like drunk sailors making more noise than I could stand so I moved the dry ones. Same thing woke me this morning.

21 eggs to start, all but 4 hatched, what is that percentage?

Not very awake! Hubby left the house bright and early slamming the door as he went, So I thought I would get up and see if anything hatched during the night, nope.
I have 14 baby bantam brown leghorns,

in my rubbermaid brooder. cute cute cute!!
I hope there is no wind today I would like to get some stuff done outside today.it is only 24 degrees right now but it is suppose to be nice and sunny today!

Hubby took my baby( a rat terrier) to the vet yesterday, and she could have Lyme disease and she is anemic. She is now on 3 differnt meds. The antibiotic (doxy) she is on for 20 days. Then she has a blood building med and one for pain. She is on almost as much medicine as I am.

Poor thing, she is spoiled enough but after this she will be worse, she will be getting "treats" to hide her pills in.

Explain 14 baby bantams in my rubbermaid brooder?!! Do you move them into that to hatch? Is it something I could do??? I may have a staggered hatch on the next batch.

I have a Rat terrier that was my dad's, she is a rotten mess too. I hope your baby gets better! How old is she?

I hatch them in the incubator and when they are dry I put them in the tote.
I took the lid and cut out a section and bolted wire on it. Then placed shavings in the bottom, put chicks in, place lid on, place heat lamp on wire cover with towel (that will keep temp around 98-100 degrees). You adjust the temp by how much of the top is covered by towel.

Petie Mae the rat terrier seems like she feels a little better today. At least she slept most of the night without yelping out in pain. She had me worried sick (really sick) That is why hubby took her to the vet. We get so silly over our creatures, But I LOVE

that ,definant, spoiled rotten lttle dog!!

Good Morning, wow I slept in. Well I was woke up at 3 am with hubby going out and checking the critter trap. I turned the TV on made sure it was something stupid and fell back to sleep. It sure did feel good to sleep in.

I might need to pick up a few of them bantam brown leghorns, seems like you all like them.

Yes we do love our critters! My rat terrier was my dad's. She is a mess and super hyper. Glad your is doing better this morning.

I'm jelous, I really needed to sleep in! I am thinking I will nap today after church!

After church naps are required in this household, we at least for me that is!!

My hubby thinks those bantam brown leghorns are about it. The roos are pretty and the hens lays lots of eggs!!
And all the ones I have hatched seem to hatch a day early. I have a cochin egg hatching today.

It is already up to 40 degrees!!!! YAH!! I so need to clean up my chicken yard, burn feed sacks, clean chick hutches (old rabbit hutch converted for chicks). Laundry needs to be done also BUT why when it is ssssoooo pretty outside.

Well off to get ready for church.

Good mornig all, sorry about leaving last night in a hurry, my dad came in from Texas and we were visiting, my mom called and said they were on the way to the emergency room with my stepdad, so I lit out to the emergency room, he is going to be fine, has an Ilious(small intestine blockage) and will have to stay in the hospital a few days. ment to get back on, but got home late and went to bed, Stimpy have you considered making quilts for your grandkids out of those flour sacks, I know my most treasured thing from my grandma is the quilt she made each of us grandkids and the quilt that she helped me make out of my old blue jeans. Sure wish I would have recorded my grandma and great grandma, we heard lots of storys growing up but nobody wrote down much, I got into geneology and started digging, it is really interesting to see where you came from, found out lots of things I did not know about my family. Have a good day all, I am going to fix breakfast, the wife is making homemade biscuits and I have home grown ham in the skillet and making gravy, MA AM I getting hungry........Lynn

Teach, I was so irritated when I had to go to the school and retrieve a small finger nail cleaning pocket knife that my first grader had taken to school, understand the reasoning but hey were are a ruaral school and boys carry knives for workin on stuff???!!!! Also wanted to relate that boys aint the only ones with energy and roughness to spare, was out working on cages the other day and we had just moved weaned pigs to a pen, my four year old daughter is in the pen playing, which is nothing unusual for her, I look to see where she is and she is out there leading one pig around by the tail, I just laughed and went on doin what I was doin, looked again and I bout busted a gut, she had one pig by the tail in each hand and they were both trying to go in the opposite direction, well we went in to eat and setting at the table I am telling her mom what went on and she(daughter) chimes in and says dad you know what, NO!!, I was out there with them pigs and I was tryin to ride one but he wouldn't stand still for me and I fell off! My wife and I both bout lost it laghing, KIDS say the darndest things!!!! Lynn
