Hey guys

Question for experts???

My broody has been locked up in that coop forever...She comes out of the nest box and scratches in the dirt and sunbathes under the heat lamp....I think she needs sunshine and fresh air. Peeps have not been out either... I let hens in the coop while I was cleaning and they thought of peeps as a treat... I thought of letting the hen out when I let the flock out to free range... and then she can scratch undisturbed... maybe? Peeps will be a week old on Saturday. They are hilarious... the way they zip around.... I put Mr. Squeaky in there at night to guard them a little and he doesn't seem to bother them...

Good evening everyone.

Henny I am not any help to you. I had one girl that hid her eggs and I never new about it until she hatched them. I never could keep her put up(kinda wild). She hatched outside the coop and would free range with them along with the flock but stayed well away from the other girls. She would run any other hen off. I am not sure that is any help to you.

Howdy ALL!

Well class was fun

I have had about enough education! You would figure I would have enough education by now...one more summer...one more summer...

GB - I don't think you told me that about your dad! I am fairly sure someone else's dad is taking care of my friends in Hardesty from Beaver...and there are a couple others with ties to the panhandle. But that is really cool. I do my preaching in Methodist churches...one of those lay leader types...without much leadership!

Stray - things are going on fairly well all day on Saturday! Breakfast at my tent will be around 7...fires will be going probably couple hours before that...talk to Al I am gonna be the head sampler and Dew fetcher! We should eat the noon meal around well noon! As far as ending there is a country song that goes, "And the party never ends!" There are other parts to it but you can't hear it you are to young

Not a clue either henny but I would bet that letting her out when the others aren't around will work

I still maintain I have quail eggs! Actually I am fairly well sold out! But I could ship to Okies in the middle of the week and it would work! And about the egg production drop off

Me too!

Canned 9 pints of eggs about two dozen per pint...I ain't doing the math!

Well folks, just got back from Ponca City, we made up Beer Bratts, Summer Sausage, and Hot Links, will be bringin about 10-12 lbs of Beer Bratts, some of the Summer Sausage and thought I would pick up a couple packages of the Bar S 1/4 lb franks for the kids, I will be making up a cakepan or larger pan of Baked beans with homegrown bacon in it and some Apricot wood for the fire, along with a thirteen year old boy and a heck of an appitite!!!! My wife has to work and my 4 y.o. is probably going to stay with grandma, I have invited about 3 friends but not sure if they are all going to make it. Can I pay for my T shirt when I get there or do I need to send money now???? No Piggies Yet!!!, Lynn

Morning all. Lynn about the Delawares in with the RIR, if I read right it should produce a sex link bird. Mine will be RIR rooster cross to Delaware Hen. I threw in a standard light brahama in this pen also as she has decided she want to set eggs 1/4 mile away from the coop.

Ha Ha Ha Monty, you are such a nice guy to share you wellies thru part of the year.

I know nothing about broody hens and their chicks, i just started with one broody cochin last week and another cross hen that is thinking about going broody. I tell you what I do not care anymore this broody cochin IS NOT coming back in the house in her cage. OMG she must hold all that poop in for days and then she lets loose. I will work on my BYC page today and get the food list on there. I believe it is Dandi that has the t-shirts.

Trust me Teach, I'm in Highschool I've heard a lot of things that I'm sure I'm too young to hear.

And I agree, letting the hen out when the others aren't around seems like a pretty good idea.

Luvs, Thanks for posting all that to your page!! It is nice to know that I can go there to see what's what. My number might be changing. My one son is for sure working and the other one might be. I have invited a friend of mine that does chickens and honey. Told him he might be able to sell/trade his honey. He has some of my eggs in his incubator now and lives in OKC.

I am working on a name tag so ya'll can find me, LOL. I still have a hard time keeping everyone straight on here.

I have a red laced white cornish stag and some dark cornish hens if you're interested? They're hatchery stock, from Ideal.

ETA: they are standard size
