Henny - okcarla is being mean!!!! On those cornish crosses they will eat themselves to death...the leg thing really has to do with letting them live to long...they can out grow their structure! You can massively limit feed them which stunts them and keep them to grow your own butcher birds...far easier to buy them to me! I might get a pen of them myself...

Quail are not a "true" white meat but they are to me. They grow fast and are real efficient on the feed...those crosses probably have them beat though

okcarla - I am going to a sale the weekend before POOPS and I can almost quarantee that there will be peacocks...many colors to choose from. It is in Dodge City, KS. If you don't wanna drive but are interested holler I am easy to con!...that is how I got married...they told me there would be cake

wdmyers - it all depends on how you jump! There was a couple ol' boys that climbed up on a barn to repair some shingles. The wind blew the ladder over and stranded them. One looks over and says hay we could jump into the manure pile. So the first one jumps...second guy hollers how bad is it...he answers only went in up to my ankles. The second guy thought that was great so he jumped and quickly sinks to his neck. I thought you said it was ankle deep. I jumped head first!

You must be a silly planner! Just get stuff and then react! It is so much more enjoyable! Well I like it...my wife freaks...but then she plans it for me the next time! Of course i change everything but the lists make her happy

I am a planner all right. I usually plan big and buy bigger.... My wife says I have a fireman's philosophy.. If a little water is good, then a lot of water should be better!!! She is not far off. My dad was a Tulsa Fireman for 20+ years.

Hi all, I'm back!!!! I see MOST of you have been playing nice!!! Hey Cubin, are you getting any fertile eggs from those Cornish, if so can you sve me some for the POOPS???? I think I developed Teaches planning philosophy years ago, I always seem to have less pens than chickens??? just haven't figured out how I always miss calculate that!!!!! Lynn

Chickensandmore - Yes, barred rocks, not crosses. No Gore isn't very far. We went to Spiro a couple of weeks ago to look at some chickens.

wdmyers - Guess we'll see you at Chupps - but won't know who you are. Of the chickens you mentioned we'll have some Rhode Island Reds, Ameraucanas, and Barred Rocks there...among many others (buffs, etc.)
I'll be with the really tall guy.

Sooner - Haven't advertised much, just small area stores, co-ops, and on Craigslist. Our flock is now NPIP certified, hatchery is licensed, and we are licensed wildlife commercial breeders

. Now that all that is taken care of, I'm sure we'll do a lot more advertising. If you (or anyone else) are over this way sometime, you are welcome to come see our set up.
