Tara, the problem is, I actually do not know if I have/need a LB hen or a rooster... my lone bird is only a few weeks old.

P&B, you are very right about the pasture being wet but she is a kid and daddy can do anything, I think he is sercretly happy to not have to do it tonight. I personally am not looking forward to it crying all night.

BigOkie, tell him he has to post them when he gets back into town! After day of cooking it I can't blame her! LOL.

Yes, I know this is true in Call Ducks.
I believe it means they have the "silver" gene which is what prevents a bird from going brassy.

I didn't know the feather color could be affected by the food eaten by the bird. Interesting! Would you ever want brassiness in a bird?

You never-ever want it in a white bird, but I guess if it was in a Buff bird that might not be a bad thing...

Yes, but that is only in a show bird. In a breeder bird at least one of the parents needs to have more regularly-long legs.

Ok what do you mean about the yellowish??? I see alittle on the male but wasn't sure if it was weather related with all the mud and muck.

On the legs, you don't see them at all?? They never sit still when I am near so I am not sure if you see them when just standing. They go crazy when I open the door to feed or anything.....

Brassy-ness can also come from sun exposure along with corn in the feed.

You can only really tell if you face them head-on and they are standing...

Sorry to say, but yes they are naturally skidish.
I hatched a batch of eggs in an incubator and the chicks all saw me right off. Each chick is around me the exact same amount of time, and they all watch me feed and water them. The one chick who always runs from me is.... none other than the Japanese chick

Ok I'm still having Chick problems. One or Two of them still have poo problems. I don't know which ones but SOMEBODY still brownish red half liquidish poo... What does that mean? I'm not gonna loose my babies am I?! That can't happen....
