lol, I do try!! Today will be crazy if this morning is any indication! How are things that way? Kinda foggy here and we are due more rain!!

I almost can't get in my pens as it is.....been considering putting a load of wood chips in there anyone got an opinion on that???

I think it would depend on the type of woodchips. I use pine shavings in my coop. I don't see why wood mulch wouldn't work.
If it makes it where you can access it easier and without so much mud, then it is a great idea.

Same here Carah, a little foggy and soggy more wettness due today. My pens were a tad messy but I spent some time last night and hosed them out and added fresh hay so it should be good today, I have concrete coop & run floors. The new ones I am building will have the same flooring, Which I really like but that may be a few weeks before I can get to that. yea use the wood chips anything to help soak it up and dry it out, at least they won't be all muddy.

It would be a mix of any of the local tree's. The guys that are paid to trim around the electric wires will dump a load in your yard if you just tell them you want it. I figure it would break down pretty quickly but I would like to build up the pen from the erosion anyways....

Everyone please give you thoughts......I will do a serch to see if anyone on the board has tried it. Just not sure if I will be able to find it.

Morning all! Stupid tests...told me I had to be quite!!!

I did the same thing a few months back, those lineman came by with these cool rig's that trimmed the fence line and shredded the trees and put in a truck. I ask them what they do with the chips and they said you want em, heck yea I said, they drove the truck right up next to the coop and dumped about 10 yds of this stuff. My roping buddy is my eastern district County Commisioner so he can get me all I want if I ask, most times I use the round bales I have left from bailing and feeding.

Sooner - sounds like a good plan. actually the bark and stuff will take some time to break down...which is good for you. It gives time to collect dirt and such and stop that erosion...if it has lots of leaves and such then it will break down fairly fast. I am planning on cleaning out my stuff this summer and putting down some cedar shavings I got from a woderful couple to deter mites and such...I have two pens that are giving me fits! Small corner of the coop...either I am an idio for letting it get in there or a genius for stopping it there...personally I think it is mad ju-ju as Henny would say!

Is anyone else have trouble with the forum being slow??

I am glad it is a good plan then! I am sure that the hens will be alot happier! I wore flip flops out last night, thinking I could just wash my feet off. You know those things are slicker than snot!! Sure glad there wasn't anyone around to see that show! LOL.

Good morning everyone. Have a blesssed day. More storms headed this way.

Teach,What is the incubation period on the quail eggs? Can I just put them in the bator the same time as the hen eggs?

Al gave us a quick lesson on how he built the concrete chicken runs when we were at POOPS. Sounded like a job for a young man.
Dad always said "anything you do with concrete is hard work."

Carah, I am glad things are better with Lil Sooner, don't work too hard today.

Teach work harder. You got three months coming up where you can be a slacker.

Don and Stimpy have been absent for awhile. Anyone heard from either of them?

Littlefiremen4, I'll get you on the list.
I may have missed some newbies during POOPS week so if so let me know.

Beth, Good luck gettin pictures of the grass growing. Better use high speed film.

Tina, Just tie a rope around your waist and let Lynn toss you in the pens to gather the eggs.

Got a big Mother's Day gig planned. Al wanna come a smoke a hog?

Jones auction is Saturday evening. I am hoping nothing comes up to knock me out of going.

P&B Are you gonna be there? I know Les and Teva will make it. Carla and Gerald will come I hope since Blamchard is out of the picture. Any other's coming?

Al, just a little further than your trip to the KOA and not as far as your northern expedition this week.
