I am so excited, my new Spostsman incubator is working perfectly! I just candled the eggs that have been in it for a bit more than a week. This was the first candling, and I still hardly had to remove any!
The duck eggs I got at POOPS from..... oh, I cannot remember his name

Anyway, out of those two dozen Duck eggs, 17 were growing perfectly!
The dozen White Rock eggs I got at POOPS from mhaines were all growing!
Out of two dozen of my own bird's eggs, I only had to remove 3!
Oh, Carla's Marans eggs were in there too, but there was no way I could see through that dark of a shell! Knowing her birds, I would say they were all growing perfectly, anyway

This is the best candling results I have gotten this whole season.... or maybe ever!

Was glad to see your Pop logged in....!

I got my OEGs coming in the mail tomorrow....What lousy weather for them to be doing a road trip. I am freezing... I went to Dallas yesterday for the funeral, so I missed raking the run out. Went out to clean coops and run this morning and it started to thunder and pour. I don't have a rain slicker so I said screw it and just worked in my T-Shirt in the rain.... It was fine till I came in... then I was soaked and freezing. Think I'm gonna take a shower soon. Got brooders in and disinfected and ready for the babies.

I miss everyone.... I was reading all the pages....

I am bushed....gonna finiosh work and take a nap...try to recover from the last couple of weeks.

If you eastern folks want, ya can send us some of your rain....we will gladly take it....

Do you mean that it is too hard to get the perfect Japanese? (Yes, that is definitely true!)
Or did you mean that they would have trouble walking? (I have not particularly heard of that, but I know they are only in a tiny cage while they are being shown so it would not affect them...)

Yes I meant having them in a cage, anytime someone would walk next to them they would fly around like crazy! Guess if the cage is small enough they would sit still.

Grace - love LOVE the pictures - thanks for posting them. I think RoPo's birds are great! How exciting that your candling showed good results.

OK Lightning (Kathryn) Hope the rest of your hatch goes as well.

Teach - way back in your list of "est" words, you forgot "pest" which surprises me because I'm sure you hear it a lot...as in "Roy, you're such a pest!"

Where are Stimpy and Don? I miss them.

littlefiremen4 - you found us!

CatAteBird - good to hear from you on here - we missed you at POOPS!

Stray - I like your new avatar - very cool.

Tophats are generally polish, houdan, sultan, or other crested type breeds.

Actually, they tend to sit still until the judges come by or someone wants to poke at the cage or take a picture.

They are fun birds to have. I have a few, down to one splash polish rooster (non-bearded), a white crested blue polish hen (bearded), and a black crested white polish hen (non-bearded).

I had a gold laced polish rooster at POOPS and I forget who bought him. But I'm glad she did, 'cause she's keeping him as a pet.

I didn't want him to be eaten. He was too neat looking.

Henny, you are one determined chicken-woman! I don't even clean coops in the rain

If I have a good hatch, it is just from having a "fancy" incubator! No, I take that back, it's from the Lord's mercy! But having this incubator sure does make me feel more important
