It is the entertainment value of chickens that makes them worth having around.

Are you feeling any better? You were up too early this morning.

Morning all

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I am 29 with 16 years experience.

We got 2 chicken tractors built so far. Hoping to be able to pull the bed brooder out of the muck today and turn it into 2 tractors. Lynn really really likes the tractor idea instead of one big coop. Got Mr and Mrs B in one tractor and then got BB and her chick 3 b's in the other one.

The sun is shining here, going to be a nice day. Going to drag some ducks to Jones tonight. Maybe a trio of birds and some chicks.

Kids are fixing burgers and dogs on the grill tomorrow for Mom's day. Hope it is a nice day.

Al, Sunday is Mother's Day! Silly! We're doing a bbq that day too with ribs and steak....of course, that's cause the guys have to cook and that's all they are good at.

Oh yea I knew that LOL. That is all we are good at!!!!??? did you really just say that.

Stimpy :
Should I buy her a new John Deer or a Craftsman lawn tractor for mothers day???, both come in green, her favorite color LOL.

I just went into my DD computer room to check on the incubator and saw her red cap & gown hanging on the door. Wow does time fly my baby is growing up, graduation later this month

Hey we made it!! It was a scary ride there for a little bit BUT alls well.

We had a small chainlink dog kennel thrown across the yard into a tree.
somad.gif

One of the BIG dog kennels folded up with chickens inside!! But thanks to my chicken huts they was not squished!!
A rabbit hut that had OEGB in it had it's legs broke, but the bird were unharmed, wet but unharmed.
The window frame in the west end of the hen house was pushed in??

Praise be to God that we only lost one tiny silkie. The new show goats did great & Very little property damage.

Columbus Ks. just across the border from us got it ALOT worse than we did. One of our good friends went up to do search and rescue.

John and Shaun headed out to Cherryvale Ks. this morning to our niece's house they lost part of the roof off thier house thier 32' stock trailer was tossed across the pasture and the there is debris EVERYWHERE!!

I am here at work where I can play on the computer!!

Our electric at the house is coming from a little yellow box that we have to keep filling up with gas. We are only powering the nessecaties right now. Deep Freeze, Fridge, one lamp, the TV and the satilitte reciever.

They are guessing we should have power within 2-4 days.

Quenston, you rock!! Thanks for calling and checking on us!!

Al,

You can't go wrong with power tools. I'm going with post hole diggers this time because 1) I have some posts that need setting and b) She needs the exercise. I can see a very special dinner in my future for being so thoughtful. You should follow my lead.

Slightly, so glad that you are alright!! I think it is great that some of us have numbers to check in!

I am just getting up this morning! I went to bed after the biggest part of the storm past and slept in this morning! The sun is shinning so I am getting ready to have to go to town for T-post to start the goat pen! If I get lucky I might get a chicken pen by the end of the day.

Ya'll have fun at the auction tonight. Wish I could be there.

Oh yes!! But thank goodness for broody hens. I took the eggs out side and divided them up between the hens so maybe they will hatch.
The neighbor has a sportsman going and they are out too. Yesterday they was cleaning up limbs and she fell and broke her wrist!

I need to call and make sure her hubby got thier generator running to keep them going. She had blue slate turkey eggs in there to hatch next week. (A special project for Shaun)
Do you think that the incubator could be moved with eggs in it??
If he gets the genarator going do you think the eggs will be ok, just a day or two late?? I would hate to have her lose an incubator FULL of eggs PLUS have a broken wrist.

As far a chicks in a brooder, I have that too but I covered them (the brooder) with a towel and so far they are staying warm.

Good morning all, glad everyone is up and safe this morning, we are a little chilly here but no rain as of yet. it looks cloudy out. Have eggs to wrap and send to Henny and my dad is coming up from Texas today, they are putting on a flower planting for MOM today from 10-2 at the Atwoods in Stillwater so am taking the kids in to plant a flower for their grandmas(mom works there!) We are going to Muskogee to the Renasuance Fair at the Castle tomarrow for my wifes Mothers day gift, that is what she like to do every year, Ronnie any suggestions on the best place to eat there(or anyone else in Muskogee) we really like Mexican food or even Chinese!!! Lynn

Stimpy :

I think she did the same thing to me yesterday, she told me I got you a gift, I said oh how nice of you thanks. then she showed me a bright shiny new pile of poultry wire layed out by the coop's she bought at the coop, about 600 ft x 4' rolls LOL. That pile looks like work LOL.

I really like the new hatcher. It had been set at a lower temp for hatching ostriches, but I bumped it up and it's holding great! I like the plexiglass door too. I think I could add more trays to the hatcher ... it looks like it has the hardware on the insides for different tray locations ... but 3 trays had better be enough for me anyway! I do like how the previous owner put in small wire dividers in each tray ... now I can hatch out chicks that I want to keep separated by breed or pen at the same time! Oh, and even though they didn't include the humidity tray, I had bought the automatic humidity tray & bucket for my other incubator and never installed it ... so that is where it's going! Perfect!

Thank you Grace for letting me know of this great deal!!!! I was going to take a picture of it, but I'd better start getting ready to go to an auction. That was my excuse for not going with Gerald this morning with his army truck on a parade. Somebody must get eggs & birds ready for the auction!
